Silence of the Lambs, Psycho & Texas Chainsaw Massacre were supposedly inspired by the gruesome crimes of Ed Gein.

'Bernie' I watched almost all of it before I realized it was a true story
It was unexpected.

The 1988 horror movie "The Serpent and the Rainbow" is based on a true story.

There's a movie called Bully, not the recent documentary, but an indie movie from 2001. It's a pretty brutal story, and not for the faint of heart. When you're watching it you can't get over that it really happened.

Paranormal activity really surprised me that it was based off true events.

That's not at all true. Total work of fiction.

My family is from the town in WV where the story originates. Point Pleasant...

I was scared out of my mind to visit after I saw the movie!

Lol, no. It is fiction.

But it would suck to have friends who were haunted by a demon their entire lives!

Wasn't The Blair Witch Project loosely based on the Bell Witch stories?

They were based off my friend Bob who went camping with a group of friends and they never returned home.

About 8 years ago or so I saw the movie "bully". I couldn't believe how sick these kids were...shocking! The movie itself was very graphic and almost borderline soft core porn at times. I had to read the book after that. It gave a bit more insight into the case!

i was surprised that "good morning vietnam" didn't make the list on wikipedia. at least, i didn't see it. it was based on the vietnam war experiences of DJ adrian cronauer.

When I drink I find its easier to watch my children because I see all 3 of them double, so all 6 of them of them take all my attention

Okay I was just about to ask if this was a joke, but then I realized I was thinking of another movie, Prince of Darkness
