Yes, they do pick up the phrases..............problem is............they are 15 and 21 They go around quoting different parts of the movie when the situation arises (can't imagine where they get that from!!) and their friends look at them with clueless expressions!!!

We have never stayed at this resort before- I have a few questions!

1. is there any shade near the pools? specifically the kids areas?
2. do you get beach towel at the pool area?
3. Suggestions for dinner near the area? boardwalk? We won't be getting park passes for the first two BC days- just chilling at the resort!

Any other tips for the resort with four young kids are welcome!

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list.

1) Not sure about the shade in the kids areas- hopefully others with little ones can help you out there. Make sure you don't miss the area with the small slide in the pirate ship (under the entrance to the Jib slide)

2) Yes, towels at the pool, I think where you enter.

3) Dining- there is a lot of info, pictures and menus of the restaurants at the Yacht and Beach Club in the dining section on the first page of this thread. I don't know much about the places at Boardwalk.

Breakfast- quick serve- Marketplace, Ale & Compass at YC for continental fare, BW bakery.

Breakfast- sit down- Cape May Cafe BC (character meal) and Captain's Grille, YC, a la carte or buffet available (no characters)

Lunch- Marketplace, Hurricane Hanna's at SAB, Beaches & Cream (sit down) and Captain's Grille (sit down)

Dinner- Cape May Clambake Buffet is great if your family likes seafood (although there are lots of other options, too). My family enjoys Captain's Grille for a relaxed meal. Both are great for families. Beaches and Cream would be a great place to go for burgers and sandwiches AND ICE CREAM, but you can't make reservations, so there can be a long wait for seating depending on when you arrive.

The room assignor normally assigns them to reservations with just two in the room that request a king bed or someone with one person on the reservation (even if it is not requested).

If a king bed is a must, there are resorts that a king bed is a separate room category that you can actually book, thus you are guaranteed you'll get it. Same as if you booked a water view at the Y&B ... you know you are getting a water view.
Thanks for those helpful observations!!!

Hi all! Ok....after running numbers, I think we could swing a CL room for our 4 night BC stay before we move over to Poly CL for 4 nights. Winning $200 in my March Madness pool will pay for part of it! So here is my question for those of you who have done CL.....we like the QSDP but I refuse to pay for both CL and QSDP. Now that our kids are older, we spend more time at the resort and go to the parks in the evening. I also like dining poolside from HH. Do you recommend us upgrading to CL? It sounds wonderful, I just worry that we wouldn't use it as much as we would the QSDP. Help!

Could we be added to the BOG list please? Our dates are 09/14/13 to 09/28/13 at YC CL and we're a party of 3 (2 adults and 1 child). We're celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary, my 40th birthday and our daughter's 3rd birthday (plus her first ever visit to Disney World!).

We're already getting Kirsty (our daughter) to watch our ever-growing collection of Disney films. So far her favourites are Monsters Inc, Lilo & Stich, The Princess & The Frog, A Bug's Life, Toy Story and Brave. Her mum (my wife) is Scottish so the liking of Brave is genetic I think!

I made the (small) mistake recently of showing Kirsty the video of the Magic Kingdom on the Disney World website when she was having her bedtime milk one evening. She was so excited she didn't sleep for over an hour (she usually settles herself after 10 minutes in bed) . My wife has not yet let me forget that little incident so no more getting Kirsty excited until much nearer the time
What a cutie!! I'm like your daughter, when I start thinking about Disney I can't sleep......

That is very nice of you to say. Let's compare our schedules in early July. I know for sure that we will be going to the early entry park every morning, Wed (AK), Thurs (MK), Fri (EP) and Sat (HS). I also know I will be around the resort late Thursday afternoon, July 18, because we have dinner reservation and very important date at Captain's Grille that night. Perhaps Sunken Treasures poolside or in the Solarium?

I'm very excited about my "business" trip- this is the first time I am returning to the Beach Club since I started managing the thread.

Kind of depends on your eating habits, especially at breakfast. If you are not much of a breakfast family, you may be better off with the QSDP. Do you have many sit down meals planned or will you be eating mostly CS meals during your BC stay?

Breakfast is the thing I love most about CL- we have a decent, early breakfast as soon as the lounge opens, then we hit the parks by 8 am. We then are ready for a QS lunch around 11 and then we have a sitdown meal for dinner.

The afternoon snacks are nibblies, like cookies, CHIPS and dip, yogurt covered pretzels/trail mix and soft drinks, but nothing too hearty.

Will you be around the resort for appetizers at 5? They are a great prelude to a sitdown dinner or quick serve meal at the parks. If you are at the parks in the evenings, you may miss out on the dessert and cordial offerings.

Normally, the regular dining plan and CL work out perfectly for my family, but we are doing some less expensive meals on this trip (Kona breakfast, Sci Fi lunch), so when I added it all up, we are saving money by paying out of pocket .

Will do!!! I had you later in the month, so I will make the adjustment to your dates.

Have a fantastic trip!

Ok, I have to stop playing on the boards now. Need to go shopping and prepare for Greek Day at the middle school tomorrow.

Skip the dining plan and pay out of pocket for meals when staying club level!

Teens eat at all different times so club level really works out for them. If you are hanging at the resort and you have teens who are late sleepers you can always bring back some breakfast items to the room for when they (finally!) get up. I always say the key to Club Level is ASKING the staff for the things that you need so if YOU decide to sleep in perhaps they can save you some pastries!

With my guys, we dined on the club level offerings, did a couple of lunch table services and then if someone was hungry after the appetizers we gave them money and said find some food. I was so glad to see the end of uneaten dinners because half the family was still too full from lunch. For us Club Level solved a lot of problems and the desserts at night were perfect for teens on the run.

My family is at the stage where we don't travel in one large pack anymore so if someone was going out and wouldn't be there when the desserts were put out they would request that the person who was going to be there at dessert time bring something back to the room for when they finally made it back from the parks.

The thing that really amazed me was that the kids weren't spending money in the parks for snacks and treats because they knew something even better was waiting for them back at the hotel!

I really think the key to sensible eating at WDW for my family was Club Level breakfast, the big meal of the day at lunch and then the CL appetizers/desserts at night. I especially liked that after the big noon meal we were taking a break at the resort and not running around. Not having a heavy meal at night was perfect for hitting the parks hard and not being bogged down from all the food. My guys really liked Club Level. It met all of their eating needs while at WDW.

Magical Express

Does the Grand Floridian have a dedicated shuttle for their guests only from the airport?

to the Yacht & Beach Club FAQ thread.

The Y&BC ME buses usually share with POR and BWI.

Are you looking for the Grand Floridian thread?

Has anyone here stayed at the GF recently and know the answer about the GF ME bus route?

Thanks for the warm welcome, natebenma!!

I know, my dilemma is two-fold. Honestly though, I don't mind a little walk and our DD5 can keep up with me, so she and I can do runs to the Marketplace while DH occupies our very active 2 yr old son I do slightly prefer the decor at the BC, but all factors considered, primarily the fact that a balcony is important, I think we might move to YC.....
