Thanks for posting the info! I just wish they would continue the "summer" concert series thru August. Last I checked August was summer too

For the record, I had indicated an arrival time of 8:30am for check in, so I am not sure if that checkbox comes up based on what time you enter in that you will be arriving.
Thanks for posting this. It think it is now a standard option for the advanced checkin regardless of your estimated arrival time.

For me, it's not just the planning. (where will we stay? where will we eat?)

It's the knowledge that once we're there, my group will have a better time than most people, because I made the effort to learn so much in advance.

Is there a guidebook you haven't read? An app you haven't downloaded? A website you haven't explored?

See if you can learn something new so that when you're down there, you can say, "Hey, I know a short-cut!" Or a way to save time. Or a way to get a discount.

Since you're here on the Dis, you probably know a lot... but as a teacher you probably realize there's always more to learn.

Is there a minimum amount of people for an illuminations party? Cost? Where is it held? I wanted to do a cruise but my DMIL is having no parts of it maybe this party is an option? We have 7 of us staying at BC in October.
Thanks in advance for any info!!

Just Booked July Trip!

Well, I'm 18 days away from my BC stay!

When we leave the resort after our vacation is over - we won't have to be too sad b/c I just booked our summer vacation with the Disney Visa code out - I just booked for 7/25-7/31 for the YC! I saved $780 with the code!
We will be visiting the Dark Side first in July and then coming back to WDW for the rest of Florida vacation.

Now, all I have to do is sneak in a Christmas time vacation and I'm all set for the year.

I posted a few pictures from Jeanne's visit with Teena and Bob this past week on the Princess Lily Goes Live report, page 11 (click on the pink link in my signature)

There are pictures from Flower & Garden, Dinner at Artist Pointe (YUM) and today's fishing trip.

Here's one of Teena Whooping it up at the Hoop De Doo Revue:

I'm a teacher, I'm a planner, I'm an organizer.
We have gone to WDW in late August for the past 6 years. It's become an annual event, and we love it, and have come to expect it. As a teacher, I have summers off, or I teach summer school, which is about 1/2 the workload and time as regular school. This leaves me the entire summer to plan, think about, talk about, ok...obsess about our trip. There is resort changing, there is movement to higher room categories, we frequently take early flights, so we have fun bidding on airport hotels for the night before, we watch Disney movies and drink Disney Glowtinis......it's become a tradition.

Is it weird to be feeling like this? Please don't think for a minute that I'm not excited to go, and be with DP and his family....again...I'm elated. I just miss the planning ritual.

Also, for financial reasons, this will likely be our WDW trip for the year, which may in fact, upset me even more. I truly think "What will I do all summer if there's no WDW trip to plan?" We've talked about a less expensive trip (Montreal, Martha's Vineyard-both drivable)(Vegas or a short cruise- cheaper than a week at WDW)....and I think, "Yeah, but planning those isn't as fun as planning for Disney."

Am I talking crazy here??
Totally get it! Planning is half the fun!

DH just called and added the Disney Visa discount to our July reservation at YC...we saved about $700!

We requested Lagoon/pool view and King bed. We will be there July 15-19 for our first YC stay!

There is resort changing, there is movement to higher room categories, we frequently take early flights, so we have fun bidding on airport hotels for the night before, we watch Disney movies and drink Disney Glowtinis......it's become a tradition.

And then this trip comes along.
My DP's brother and sister-in-law want to take their 9yo son to WDW for the first time and they want DP and I to play tour guide. Of course DP jumped at the chance to take his DN (?Disney nephew?) to "The World," and I couldn't be happier to join. I teach 4th grade, and the majority of my students are 9, so it's a walk in the park for me. This is the age group I love. I'm over-the-moon to be going with this group.

My hesitation is that this trip is being put together and prepared for in a way I'm not used to. Our rooms have been booked for months with no changes (Ok...the YC was a last minute addition...but still...far less resort planning than previous trips). Our dining has been set. Our park days have been set. It's all planned, and with me working full time (regular teaching, plus before-school standardized test prep courses 3 days/week and working on a play with the angels after school), there's been very little time to relish the planning of this trip...and suddenly it's upon us in 2 weeks!

I'm truly in a place of (don't laugh) mourning.....mourning for the loss of planning the trip...posting on the DIS constantly....watching Disney movies (we're too tired at night to get through anything more than 30 minute sitcoms). Because we both work right up until 3 hours before we fly to Orlando, there's no fun night at the airport hotel before we leave, and the whole packing ritual will be quick and done when we have a spare moment about 2 days out.

Is it weird to be feeling like this? Please don't think for a minute that I'm not excited to go, and be with DP and his family....again...I'm elated. I just miss the planning ritual.

Scott,

Im like you, I love the planning part, I'm not a resort hopper though & just stick where we book. Its fun to figure out EMH, dining plans & activities to do! Disney has something for everyone! Just enjoy this trip & get ready to plan a new one no matter how far in future it may be!

Thanks in advance for any info!!
You can do a party for anywhere between 10 to 200 people depending on the location. You need to call Disney catered events and they can help you. Each location has a venue fee and a minimum for food and beverage. We have had as few as 8 people although the minimum is 10 so you have to pay for 10 people and we are having 26 people this time. They will assign you a planner and then coordinate with you decor, food, location , etc. you could actually have a party for thousands of people I guess. Our parties have always been for smaller groups. Disneytravelbabble.com is a good place to start. The site is owned by Lurkyloo here on the disboards.
