Nachos at San Angel

We were thinking of lunch at San Angel Inn (something new for us)

I was wondering if it is possible just to order a plate of nachos. I didn't see that on the menu. dd is super picky but loves nachos with cheese.

Thanks

The Cantina outside of Mexico has nachos. The Inn does not.

If it isn't on the menu, it's not likely they will be able to prepare it for you. They won't have the same cheese sauce that is served outside for one thing. La Cava has cheese dip but it's spicy and probably not to the taste of most children.

That's good to know. I guess we'll be looking for a different place to eat.

Or just let your dd get the nachos at the CS place before you go into the Inn.

My own picky dd loves the nachos at the CS place - she has to get them ever trip.

We've been getting lunch at the Cantina for the last several trips - because the food is better than the table service food at the Inn. We love the empanadas and the guacamole, and DS likes the tacos. And they have nachos. Limited selection, yes, but you might find it really enjoyable (as we have).

The CS there does have Nachos. They are delicious, but my dh & I made the mistake of each getting an order. They are so rich, we should have shared. I enjoyed them fully, but got sick because of the grease. We will go back, but we will share an order.

Concur completely with this. We were entirely unimpressed by the San Angel Inn restaurant. Being from Oklahoma, you really can't swing a dead cat without hitting some variety of Mexican/Texican/TexMex (whatever permutation) restaurant, so we were hoping for something different, but it was really nothing much departed from what we could get anywhere back home. The Cantina is as good or better IMHO.

I just wanted to encourage you to dine at SAI anyway even if your DD can't get nachos.

My kids were quite picky when young (now 20 and 17) but we took them in all those sit downs at Epcot and told them to just "try something and do your best, if you are still hungry after we will find you something to eat". And I would usually have them eat a yogurt or piece of fruit before we would go in to a restaurant to take the edge off.

At SAI they serve yummy chips and salsa if that helps. The atmosphere is really nice inside and kids are interested in looking around. Boat ride after too.

I used to always carry ketchup packets and peanutbutter in my purse which helped alot too. One trip I think they ate some version of a chicken breast at every meal! I think all that exposure to different restaurants when they were young has made my kids better eaters today. Go for it!!
