lol - to the pp, it's not a regional thing at all. I have a stack of tapes from WLIR in the 80's. Now, a couple of my favorite WLIR dj's are on Sirius/XM's First Wave channel, and hearing their voices takes me right back.

LOL! I have a couple tapes from WLIR. My oldest tapes are from college station 88.7 WNHU in 1983, University of New Haven's radio station. One of them has How Soon is Now? From The Smiths when it was first released.

I know the concept of a mix tape is not regional, I have just never heard anyone call it a 'mixed' tape instead of a 'mix' tape.

I wasn't nitpicking, just curious because I'd never heard them called that, so I wondered if there were parts of the country where they were called that.

Maybe I'm saying it wrong, who knows? When you say it either way, it sounds the same.

I am sitting here saying, "mix tape. Mixed tape." I sound like a moron and now they don't even sound like words anymore.

Wasn't trying to criticize you OP. I've heard many odd regional language differences both in real life and on the DIS and I was just curious. 'Mix' and 'mixed' do not sound the same to me but I am sure it does in some parts of the country.

Well "mix" and "mixed" don't sound the same to me either, but when you put "tape" in front of either, it seems to blend so that the "t" sound is lost, unless I say them slowly and distinctly make the "ed" sound. The same thing with iced tea. A lot of people think it's "Ice Tea" but it's not.

Also, this is one of the strangest conversations I've ever had.

I consider my Ipod, my modern mix tape!

ETA - Stryper is one of my guity pleasures. My kids laugh as I sing along with "Calling on You" at the top of my lungs!

I still have my bible....that they threw out at a show Mini version!

DD was playing her favorite songs on Youtube and the old lady in me came out, "In my day, we had to WAIT for the DJ to play our favorite song on the radio and if we were lucky, we could tape it!"

No way! I saw them in concert, too. Couldn't believe it when they brought out the mini-Bibles and started lobbing them into the audience!
