Port arrival question

We are staying at the Country Inn & Suites the night before our first Disney cruise. We have an 11:30 PAT. We are driving 7-8 hours to get to the hotel. I've heard we can't sign up for the shuttle until we get to the hotel. By the time we get to the hotel if there are no early slots left for the shuttle to the ship will that be an issue? For example if our PAT is 11:30 and we can't get a shuttle slot until 1:00 will that interfere with us boarding the ship?

No, the PAT is really a "no earlier than" time. Not a specific window you have to arrive in.

If you can't get on an early shuttle. I have a suggestion. Are you leaving your car at the hotel? Do you have a least 2 adults going? The morning of your cruise ( but not before 10:45) Drive to the port with everyone and all your luggage, pull up to the front of the port and drop your luggage off with the porters. Have one adult drive back to the hotel it will be easy for one person to jump on a shuttle with no luggage. Have everyone else go in the terminal and start the check in process. The hotels are not wild about this because their drivers don't get as big of tips so be sure to give the drives a few bucks. Make sure the adult catching up with has ID with him so he can get into the terminal.

I'd suggest calling them directly while you are on your way and ask to be put on the shuttle list (the time you are requesting). We did for one of our two sailings since we weren't arriving until later than expected and while we weren't on the very first shuttle, we were on the second around 10:30 and it's like a 10 min drive to the port from there.

Have fun,
Heather

We stayed at Country Inn & Suites last year & didn't know we couldn't sign up for the shuttle until we showed up,which wasn't until about 2:00.We drove 8 hours from Key West.
We were able to get on about the third shuttle trip, but waiting for it to return from the port to get us, seemed like forever.
We had the first ship boarding time-11:00,got to port at noon ,due to hotel shuttle wait time.

Not that it's so bad,it could have been a worse wait, but we're doing it a tad differently in two weeks.
Will still be staying at CI & S for our 3/9 cruise, BUT, will stay over in Fort Lauderdale on the 7th, and drive only about 4 1/2-5 hours to Cocoa Beach and try to get there around 11. Hopefully,we'll be able to get on a shuttle leaving a little earlier this time.
