Lunch without ADR at a monorail resort

We have not done this in many years, and I fear it may not be possible any longer.

Is there anyplace we can eat for lunch at a monorail resort and walk in without reservations? I'm talking at crowd levels of 5 or 6 out of 10, so not July 4.

If not, could we do eat at a CS place, like Captain Cooks and do some shopping at the resort? And will they still give us a 3 hrs parking pass to do this as we are driving?

I doubt you'd need a reservation at The Wave. And on the off chance that the dining room is booked, their full menu is served in the lounge, which has ample seating and a really cool ambiance.

I would think you could walk into The Wave at CRT.

Will you be at MK that day? If so, you don't need to park there. You can access CRT via the monorail or walking path.

I think that you could get a walk up table at any of the monorail restaurants for lunch or you could take a boat over to WL.

You'd be fine at any of the CS restaurants on the monorail loop, and I would bet Kona Café at the Poly and Grand Floridian Café at the... wait for it... Grand Floridian would both be able to accommodate you at lunch even without an ADR with a fairly minimal wait. Even if the wait were a little longer, you could get some shopping in before your table was ready.

We were able to get a walk up at the Kona Cafe...and loved it. The food and service were fantastic, and getting to people watch the lobby was just a bonus!

We've got reservations there for August, but only because there'll be six of us this time.

I agree with the PPs. You should have no problems with a walkup at any of the monorail resorts. If for some reason they are busy, then you still have the option of that resort's CS restaurant.

If you are only going to the resort, and not to a park afterwards, then just tell the guard at the entrance that you are there for lunch and you will be able to park in the general lot for 3 hours.

We've been able to walk up at Kona Cafe with no wait (and on a 9 or 10 day).

GF Cafe had availability the few times we walked past it on another spring break trip.

Another vote for The Wave! We were able to eat their twice our past trip with no ADR and no wait. We had breakfast both times, but it always seemed like there were at least a few tables open at any given time. Our food and service were excellent

We've eaten lunch at the Grand Floridian Cafe a number of times...on similar "crowd level" days...no wait (twice most of the tables were empty...another time maybe 1/2 the tables had people, but lots of tables still left open.)

DS(24)'s favorite place to eat is Cafe Contempo(at the Contemporary)..not fancy, but he is in love with their sandwiches.

I think you would have luck at Grand Floridian Cafe or The Wave. We have eaten at both for dinner with no reservations and both locations were only half full. Of the two we preferred GFC hands down. We thought The Wave was just OK.

We did Kona for lunch last August at 12:30 and there were only 2 other tables being used. You should be fine!

I agree with many of the above posters - you should be fine! We make a point of eating at Kona on one of our magic kingdom days and have never had a problem just walking up. We try to get there just as they are opening up for lunch, so maybe that helps.

I would definitely recommend Kona - and if you are looking for a tasty adult beverage, order a lapu lapu.
