First timer question?

We are about to embark on a 10 day Disney vacation. 3-days at the Contemporary resort and then a 7 day eastern cruise on the Fantasy May 18 th.
We are signed up for the Disney bus to take us to port canaveral. I was thinking about calling a private car service so that we can control the time we leave, make a stop or two and get there at our time. Disney concierge suggested we arrive at 11:30 am... that way we will be able to walk right on.

Does anyone have any input or thoughts on this?

Also, Looking for a GREAT TA for next time. I plan to book again once on the ship...

I'm happy to dance with you
I have 2 opinions
We had tried usual things to keep them away, including something like coyote urine, it is sold in hardware stores by us

A 1 way car rental would be cheaper than either of your suggestions, and would allow you stops. It would mean taking the car shuttle to the port from the rental car drop off.

We've rented 1-way most of the time. Have a great cruise. We use Tracy from DU as our TA.

We've done only the Bus but next week are doing our first rental car drop off / pick up. The bus from the resorts usually pick you up between 11 and 12 getting to the port about 50-55min later. If you want to stop enroute or control your time more, a town car or rental would be easier, but a little more money depending on the size of your group. 4 or more people and its almost always cheaper to do a one-way rental or town car service.

We usually do either the bus (for convenience, but we aren't looking to be among the first onboard) or rent a car. If you are going to rent, look for discount codes. But if you are renting, I'd advise you to look up the # for a taxi before you leave. It is hit or miss if there are going to be long lines for the shuttle and best to be prepared in case there are.

I would agree with the posters above, rent a one way car with discount codes, we have done it before and its an easy drive and you get to stop anywhere you please. Write down a taxi number though as we have gotten stuck waiting for the free car rental shuttle and would have much rather spent the $10 for a taxi.

I always do a group shuttle or town car; I don't like to drive and I hate the cruiseline shuttles. Renting a car is too much work for me, but party size and desire to drive are big factors.
