Anyone done the World Showcase Wine Walk?

http://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2009/1...ase-wine-walk/

Because I most certainly will do it in May!

For those that have done it, how are the wines? It sounds lovely!

I wonder if it's even still done, since that blog article is from 2009....but it would be great!

I would be interested in doing this in August.
Is this something that is still being done and is it a set "tour".
Do I pay for it upfront and is there set times or do I just do myself?
Thanks so much.

We did this a couple of years ago. DH and I 'shared' the walk since I knew I wouldn't be able to 'walk' out of Epcot after 6 samples of wine!

It was a good deal at $20 (might be more now). Go to any of the countries mentioned and purchase it. They will give you a card and stamp it and give you your first 2 samples there. Go to the other countries, hand them your card and they will stamp it and give you your samples.

We know our wine and we felt the samples they gave us weren't their 'best'. There were some wines DH really wanted to try and they weren't offered. Most of the wine we sampled wasn't very good, but it depends on how well you know wine and/or what kind of wine you like.

Its worth a 'walk' just to try it out though.

Thanks. I am going with a wine snob (my mom) and this definately would not be worth it. I rather us go somewhere and she can get what she wants. My, on the otherhand, cannot tell the difference between a good bottle and a not so great bottle. Now margarittas and martinis, I'm your girl

I did this in 2010 and I'm not sure if it is still available. I found it to be a fair price at around $20. If I remember correctly...I think you had a choice of either a dry or a sweet wine at any of the countries. I think if you are a "wine person" you would probably want to pass on it, as a previous post mentioned the wines really aren't that great. I am so not a wine person, but I know enough to know that Rosa Regale tastes like sparkling juice (which is why I like it!) and that was the sweet option in Italy.

I've done this but wouldn't again. You don't hear much about the wines and they are very, very sweet. I think it's better to just go and order a great glass of wine at these three(over a good amount of time!). Much more enjoyable.

Thanks for the input! I am a "wine person," and don't know that I would enjoy choosing from just a sweet or dry wine. I love interesting and complex reds. Maybe I just need to head the wine cellar in Italy! At $20, I may still give it a try, and share it with my mom.

Is the card dated? I mean could I possibly do 3 wines on one day and then 3 wines on the following day?

On the Disney food blog they say that as long as you keep the passport and receipt, you can split up the walk. Maybe someone on here that has done it can confirm?

If you have even a passing interest in wine, you will be disappointed. This is not a tasting of new discoveries served in Riedel crystal. These are short pours of supermarket $7 wines served in plastic cups. If you want to do it "just because", then I suppose that there are worse ways to spend $20. (But $40 for two people is hard to justify). If you are thinking about this as a way to taste and discover some new wines, I would reconsider. Spend your money choosing more selectively in Italy, France and Germany.
