I took our Cannon, disposable water camera and my iPhone. There were times I took the big camera like on the Aztec Ruins. I took the disposable water camera snorkeling and the iPhone running around the ship. My advice take all and pick and chose what you want when.

I take my dSLR on every vacation. It is heavy (Sony A700 with battery grip) but I find with a good walk around lens (18-70MM is what I carry) it works perfect.

I have a rebel also. I carry it - get a good bag. I use a Tamrac 3444 Rally 4 for when I go to WDW/cruise. It fits the Rebel, extra battery, etc. plus I can fit my park passes, bottle of water in the side and my wallet. If I am carrying additional lenses then I use a bigger bag but mostly I rely on my Tamrac.

I carried my Canon 60D, my Canon Powershot, and my iPhone on our last cruise. IPhone was only used when we were in Port Canaveral - the PowerShot went to Grand Cayman and was my "walking around the ship" camera, but the 60D got a workout at Costa Maya (dolphin excursion for kids), the ruins at Tulum, and I also took time on a sea day to take it around the ship as well.

I cannot imagine not having my camera on our first cruise. I have a Canon PowerShot that's not the easiest to pack around, but I love it. We have hundreds of pictures from the week. I take a lot and then weed through them when we get home in hopes of having a few good ones. I also have a waterproof camera to take on excursions.

I prefer the smaller Powershot Camera for traveling but if your a shutter bug I say bring your camera. Better to have it and not need it then to need it and not have it.

FWIW: I was able to fit the 60D in the safe (Fantasy), and it has a larger lens (18-135 mm) and bigger body than the Rebel.

Had HD Sony video with still shot

Sony HD fit in hand very small very light. You need to under stand video files and your options. Sony hd is mt2s files and you need to down load a free program called play memories to work with them. I purchased extra memory cards 32 mg and put 6 day trip on them. You will also need a fast video card and big hard drive to play with HD video.
Daughter had new 10meg water proof still and HD video took some great pictures, including swim with sting rays underwater. One problem is uses Quick Timer files, opps sony-apple no mix. Still trying to convert QT to something that will play with Sony. Love sitting at home watching two hours of HD edited video of trip on 70" tv.

I will be carrying my Nikon d7000 and both my lenses. I'm also bringing my small canon point and shoot with the waterproof case and a tripod. (I won't carry it with me tho) I'm trying to workout the easiest way to carry my dslr easily with no damage/no unwanted attention. So far I'm looking at the rocket strap for easy carrying. I'm so excited for the chance to take (hopefully) awesome photos.

I take my Nikon D3000,with both lenses and flash, my underwater camera and its housing and my video camera. The Nikon is great for reaching out and touching something while in port, say pictures of the ship while she anchored, my Sea life point and shoot works great in my pocket for walking around the ship.

After our Alaska cruise and seeing the pictures we took with our Easyshare vs those taken by friends with their Rebels, I bought DH a Rebel for his birthday/Christmas gift. He has taken it with us on two cruises and trips to WDW now and the pictures are even more incredible. He also brings the tripod with us to WDW to take pictures of the fireworks.

I took my Nikon D3000 on my cruise last year and it is packed along with my Canon Powershot with underwater case to go when I leave in 2 days. Last year I took close to 1000 photos with my Nikon. Granted there are at least 150 of sunsets and sunrises but it was well worth the extra space to take the bigger camera. There are too many opportunities to take photos and good photos and the alternatives just won't do the picture justice. In addition I have found that since I got my Nikon I now compare all photos to that camera. For instance, I went to the Kenny Chesney all day concert and my husband told me not to bring the Nikon. I spent a considerable amount of time thinking how good the pictures of the concert would be if I had the Nikon. If it was me I would take it.

After years of trying to find the perfect bag etc... I got a recommendation on my cruise meet thread for a BlackRapid strap. OMG this thing is amazing! I carried by Canon Rebel with a heavy lens (not the kit lens) all over the parks easily.

http://www.blackrapid.com/

It is very well designed and the crossbody meant the camera didn't feel near as heavy. LOVED IT!
