our oop trip and what it cost us

Sitting at AKL now waiting for ME back to the airport . We almost always do a DDP, but with the recent cost increase and the decrease in snacks on the qsdp, I thought we may do better oop.It was myself and DS 16 and DD 17, so 3 adults. We stayed 5 nights at BLT followed by 4 at AKV. I told the kids to order whatever they wanted. We had breakfast in the room almost every day. We ate 4 ts meals, all dinner, The Fountain, Via Napoli, Boma and ESPN club. The rest were all cs, but many of the more expensive ones ( bog, sunshine seasons, yak and yeti, etc.) At the cs places I usually ordered 1 large soda for the teens as they are huge and one cup of water ( free) for me .We averaged one snack per person per day. We spent just under $900 so an average of $98 per day in food .We ate exactly as we wanted. Loved doing a TS just about every other night and not being ruled by our adr's. Loved the freedom to eat wherever and order whatever we wanted. This is not anti dp. Some trips it DOES work for us, but not all the time. The almost $900 includes tips. I am very pleased with the money I have left for our next trip

Wow, that is great. I too have been crunching numbers and from the looks of it, we will be oop unless free dinning is offered. Have a safe trip home.

We just figured it out exactly and it came out to $96.66 per day. I forgot to mention, about half the time at the cs places we shared a dessert. Our snacks were the more expensive ones ( Ghiradelli, zebra domes, dole floats, etc.)

Same here. With DS being a "disney adult" now we are going oop this year.

Us too. We will have a now 12-yo and a newly 10-yo, and when we did the math, there was no question.
