New Android smartphone... what should I get?

I am looking for a new smart phone and I'm not sure what to get, so I thought I'd see what DISers like or don't like about their phones. I've always used Android, so I'm looking for that (not iPhone).

My current phone is a smart phone, but it's on the dumb side. It has a physical keyboard, which I LOVE - but I know now the "better" smart phones are touch screen only. I have played around with them and I really prefer the physical keyboard for email and texting. Can you really get used to the touch screen?

My current phone has crummy battery life and memory, so I'd like a phone that improves on that. I am starting a new job, so I need a phone that's good with email and calendars. A better camera would be nice, too.

So... what phone should I get?

I like my Samsung Galaxy III. I got it the end of December, it is my first smartphone and while the whole thing took some getting used too, I do like it. Yes, I have gotten used to the touch screen although I do still find it harder to text on than my dumb phone but its probably because my fingers are as old and slow as my brain. I tend to try and use my fingernail and it requires a finger pad touch which I find awkward but from what I hear that is on all smartphones not just mine.

I love the Swype keyboard. My first smartphone had a physical keyboard, but I am now faster with the virtual keyboard. The only thing that slows you down is when you swype something that it doesn't recognize, or recognize correctly.

I have a Samsung Galaxy III and love it. Yes, it has a virtual keyboard but that doesn't bother me much and I like swype. DH has the same phone and had trouble typing with his big hands so I found him a stylus and he is happy.

The battery life is good, apps good, camera pretty good so I am quite happy with it. Plus the fact that we got them at Sprint during a BOGO promotion didn't hurt! ;-)

Get a Ubuntu phone. Prettier than Android and much, much safer (multiple studies determined that as many as 41% of Android apps have security flaws, some very serious, such as the leaking of your PayPal info)

Galaxy S-III is one of the ones I'm considering... seems like everyone likes it! How is your battery life?

I'm going to throw in a vote for Nexus 4. Galaxy S3 gets great reviews, and I'm sure it's a great phone, but Nexus 4 will get quicker updates, and for longer.

I have the RAZR M and love it! I carry my phone in my back pocket or in my boot a lot (I am a dance instructor at a bar) so it's important for me to have a slight smaller phone. The M fits my hands perfectly and performs great. Battery life is amazing, it lasts forever! Seriously, I can unplug it at 7 am and it will last all day. I use it to play games, listen to music, read books, love it!

Another Galaxy 3 user here. YES you can get used to the touch screen.

I was also did not want to make that leap BUT that is how it is now so I did it.

Commenting on the battery life of it however, I would say that it is awful. I am going to get the "extra battery" case for it soon which is 99 bucks at Best Buy.

That being said I do love the phone.

Galaxy all the way... I am running the Samsung Infuse 4G now, and if the need arises the galaxy 3 is where I will go, or the Note.
