They usually do tours to acquaint you with the layout of the ship while waiting to embark. The tour you really want is called the Art of the ........ I can't remember the exact name but a CM will take you through the whole ship (not crew areas, kitchens or bridge) and tell you stories and statistics about the decor, the history of the ship, size, where built, different rugs throughout the ship, wall hangings, etc. I usually given on at sea days. Look for it in the Navigator.

This is right up my alley. Do I need to sign up for the tour ahead of time?

When we did the tour on the Dream we had to sign up ahead of time. It was a very good, and interesting, tour and we had about 20 people in the group.

On the magic during the 2007 Panama Canal cruise they accidently changed the meeting location of the Art of the theme tour from Palo to prludes so the CM leading it got a little confused, It was kind of funny as a lot of the people had done it before on the cruise

The Art of the Theme tour was offered several times on our 3 day Dream cruise in April, none of which were sea days. There wasn't a sign up and there were 3 cruisers and 2 other CMs who hadn't seem the tour before. It was great!
