Applying Disney Gift Card after PIF

Hello DCL experts! I'm looking for help. First off, we are paid in full (cruise Saturday!) So... I took the advice of many and purchased a handful of gift cards at Target for discount for on-board spending, tips, etc. I then called my TA (Costco) and asked to have them applied. I was told they can't do that.. I should go to Guest Services once on-board to have them applied. True? I'd love to have them applied before we go (one less hassle once on vacation).

Any advice?

Could be your TA doesn't want to deal with the "hassle." I know that we pre-paid into our onboard account using Disney Visa last year, but we did that to get the no-financing. Will your TA do it if you ask to pre-pay the tips? Otherwise, there is no particular advantage to applying the gift cards in advance other than saving a little time onboard.

Enjoy your cruise!

Costco won't apply the gift cards even if you aren't paid in full - it's just their policy. Your only option is to take them to GS.

I did it on the Christmas cruise and it took about 5 minutes. It is not a big deal at all and easier than scratching all the codes on the back, typing the numbers to your TA and hoping they don't transfer the card incorrectly. On board it is a swipe, a pause, a swipe, a pause, etc. They give you a receipt right there.
