I get the "I can't believe you're doing Disney again" thing all the time. I have nothing to be ashamed of for going, so their opinions matter really very little to me.
This!

You just have to realize that it's pointless to argue with some people.

Yup! We wouldn't go if it wasn't for those.. ( I do wish the discounts were better this year)

I was not trying to sound rude or however you thought, I was just asking if that was correct, I like to have all the ideas that I can get to save money & she helped with her advice.

I think any kind of CC extras are great as long as you can pay them off each month! It really helps..

I think the thing is, when these people ask "us", they are thinking that we have some minor tips saving on a "typical" vacation location (with some hype and steep prices thrown in).

Man, they just have no clue, but that's okay with me. I've been going since '72 and it really is the the most magical place on earth, and it just gets better every year.

We're good...sometimes it's hard to tell what people mean exactly when you read it. I was confused!

It was a 1/3 of what they spent!
She then tried to tell her mother (my BBF) but her mother wouldn't even listen to her.. :-(
I would find the conversation very annoying. And when she said that you should not go back I would quickly state that you have a great time because you do all the things she ignored. But Disney is not for everyone.

I will say though that I find it inappropriate to talk finances like that with someone else's 15yo, and at 15 she should know or be told it is not her business, nicely but still.

If it was any other of my friends kids, I would agree

But this 15yo. Is like a daughter to me.. I'm her emergency contact at school and other things..
I took her school shopping, when her mother couldn't due to being out of town..
She is at my house almost every other day.. Even before the baby..

Plus sometimes when I'm busy with the baby she would check airline flights for us... :-)

Of course, I explained to her about Disney magic.

To her, it was the worst place they have ever been and will never go back.

OMG.....

Somehow, these posts are funny and pathetic at the same time. Thanks for your stories!

I got the same reaction from friends and coworkers when I said I was taking my family to WDW. "It's so expensive...It's so crowded...blah blah blah" or they give me grief for being a 29-year-old guy who happens to love going to Disney.

WDW is not for everyone. Your friend just might be one of those people.

I believe that planning a trip to the World is unlike planning any other trip. It's involved. Really involved. For me, that's a ton of fun. For people that prefer to just get a beachside hotel room and lay in the sun all day, it's probably not as fun.

I don't think you can do WDW without some planning. At least, not until you've become an experienced visitor. People that don't get that are probably going to have a less than stellar time and that's too bad because they spent all that money going there, if they just spent a little time planning, they'd probably have blast.

Thanks, I love the idea of doing a PowerPoint. My Newletters were very well received but a Power Point could be way more 'fun'.

Some people don't like to plan or don't like crowds or prefer something else. It doesn't bother me if they don't get it.
