The twins have been coming down stairs during the middle of the night and sleeping in our bed. This has been going on for about a year. It started as once in a while then one kid for a week straight and then they'd switch. For about the last month or two it has been both kids. One is down between two and three and the other is between four and six in the morning. Usually it is not a big deal, I don't even realize they come down. but there are some times I wake up with a foot in my back and can't get back to sleep. Anyone have any strategies for getting them to stay up stairs? Or any idea when this stage will end?
I broke this habit almost immediately....though, fortunately, it never really became an epidemic. I removed him and put him in his own bed as soon as he showed up. Even if he was sick....in that case me or my wife stayed in the chair in his room---which is quite comfy.

My personal spaces are my personal spaces...period. Drawing the line in the bed made it easier to draw the line on other areas later..
There's a room in my house that he is NOT allowed to go into unless I'm with him (It's my office. The gun safe is in there--and even though he can't get in that, I don't even want him in there at all without supervision)

That is the reason I didn't post this on the family board. One mom thought it was child abuse if you didn't rinse the chlorine off your kids right after they got out of the pool.
No way do I want to get that hornets nest going on something like this.

But that is how it has been since he was actually somewhat relevant in the NBA in the 90's. His claim to fame was being a great rebounder and defender and being absolutely nucking futs. I guess any publicity is good publicity for a B list celebrity, and this kind of stuff gets him publicity.

It used to last from Labor Day to Memorial Day. With Global Warming, winters now are ONLY Halloween to May Day

Ah, I see....

I called a buddy of mine at EPA CID in Washington DC to ask him how Global Warming was working out for him...

He issued an expletive and hung up on me

The English language lacks the words to describe just how badly that went.
Colbert is right: when you point a camera at some folks, it’s like giving then an instant lobotomy.

Whoa…
What really disappoints me is that I’m no longer surprised to hear such things said out loud.

DD did this occasionally starting around age 3 and on to about age 5. Every time she did it was a different case. Usually sent her back to bed, occasionally she stayed, occasionally I left and let her and SWMBO kick each other instead of me . She grew out of it. Do what works for you.

I'm the wrong person to ask. My 2yo is in our bed every night. My DW does not discourage this. I will be making a stand soon that will probably only end up with me being relegated to the couch.

I wish you well, but I would use it as a reason to invest in a comfy couch. SWMBO and I started dating 20 years ago this month and I learned to pick my battles for the truly important things.

That was months ago and was also the last time I went and read any threads regarding parenting questions. It completely floored me.

Audrey would give us issues for a while, just slowly tapered off... No real strategy involved, just a lot of patience
