Meet and Greet Advice?

So I'm going to Disney World pretty soon, and I really want to meet Peter Pan and Gaston. The problem is: I get really shy. I'm normally an outgoing person, always striking up conversation. However, when I meet characters, it's like I crawl into a snail shell. I've been like this forever. This time, I want to have an experience with characters that is memorable. I don't want to just stand, smile, and then leave. Does anyone have any advice? Ever been in the same situation? Help me out! Please!

First off, hello to a fellow Peter Pan fan. Peter is my favorite...

Say something that you would to the character you are encountering...don't think of them as simply "actors" or "Cast Member's in costume".

One sure way to get their attention is to wear something with that character on it. One time I wore a Donald Duck shirt and did a Meet and Greet with him. He FLIPPED over the shirt.

You could also carry around a Duffy the Disney Bear. They really love those!

I would say something that plays off who they are. Example: When we met Lady Tremaine I told her I was looking for a husband, too. She said "Well, my daughters are the first in line." And looked really upset. It was funny!

Try something like that!

I would ask every character a question. We did that and I believe it really helped to make all the interactions more interesting and fun. For example, when we met Peter Pan, my husband asked him if he had seen the old codfish lately. Peter responded that he hadn't because you can smell him a mile away.

FWIW, my DD freezes up when she meets her favorite characters. She was fine for most of them, but for some reason when we met Peter Pan, Tiana and Jake, she got really shy and didn't want ot meet them.

Oh and if you see Buzz, ask him how he goes into Latin mode.

Thanks so much! Any advice for a Gaston meet and greet? I know he's new so I can't wait to see what he's up to! I kind of want to ask him if he and the Beast are friends now.... By the way, does Gaston still meet in EPCOT? Or was that just a temporary spot until New Fantasyland opened?

They just agreed to let bygones be bygones and now share a drink from time to time and gripe about what a handful Belle is?

Prince Adam (beast): You dodged a bullet Gaston.

Gaston: Indeed! I would take getting thrown off a castle over what you put up with any day.

Any appearances he does in Epcot are for character training and cannot be planned for.

Just have fun with it! I have some experiences that are awesome, and some that are "hi...bye..." kinda things. I find it also depends on the cast member themselves.

Just remember that when you're meeting Peter, you're meeting Peter, he's the real thing, and you're probably going to be excited, right? Tell him you're his favorite, ask him if you can join in on the fun and be a Lost Boy, crow with him, all those kinda things.

As for Gaston, he is outside his Tavern, in the village square, sometimes right infront of the fountain, sometimes off to the left side of it. I believe he starts around 10 and goes into the afternoon, and he's super fun to meet!

Here's a great thread to help you out titled "What else to say to the characters" to give you some ideas on how to break the ice with some of the characters: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=657318

Kenny the Pirate has some great prompts on his site. If you have an android phone, you can get it all on an app.

ETA: I didn't read far enough to see you were back already. Glad you had fun! I'd love to see some photos!

Meet Advice

Hi OP,

with these two characters you wont need to say much, Gaston is more talkative than peter.

In October Peter Pan asked us all the questions as did Gaston all you had to do was say yes or no really lol

im a bit like that, i always wanna meet the characters then i get shy wiith them sounds really dumb when your 23 but hey lol

Gaston was fun, he asked me if i had tried his brew then looked at my wife and said somthing to the effect of, who is this beautiful maiden on your arm, and then back handed compliment with but your not as cute as belle, im going to marry her ya-know lol

funny;

peter was good though but Gaston was one of the best M&G from my previous trip. hes quite regular round near Gaston Tavern in new fantasy land
