First time with National and I did get my Emerald Club number. I understand that you rent a "midside" and then pick any from the Emerald aisle, but can I use their upgrade coupon and rent a compact to get the midsize I need? TIA ~

No.

You must reserve and pay for the midsize car to use the Aisle. Otherwise you can use the midsize aisle only using your upgrade coupon. Now, read the coupon is it guranteed or "as available" If it's the latter you will have to go to the counter to use it first.
