Alaska summer 2013

We've sailed DCL a couple times (as well as several pre-kid cruises on other lines), but this will be our first Alaskan cruise. Starting to think about planning and wondering lots - from what to pack to which excursions are best (kids range 5-11). Must do a sled dog excursion, and probably a helicopter trip to a glacier. Any suggestions?

There are many threads on this very subject and many trip reports to read thru. Here's a link to a very current Skagway thread:

Also, go to the Meets Section of the DCL boards to find the link to your sailing and you can read and discuss was others on your sailing are planning to do.

This thread on Alaska Excursions was very helpful. It's a bit of a long read, but I took notes as I went through all the pages and left with so many good ideas for further research.

My biggest suggestion we be to just sit back and spend some time reading the posts that get put here on the boards - reading a little each day really helped me out!
