Does anyone know about the port in San Diego? Is it really right next to the airport? I tried to google map it, but I was surprised by what (I think) I saw. I'm trying to rent a car and I picked Budget at the airport (on Costco).

I seem to remember the cruise terminal being just there more or less in the centre on the sea front. The airport is very close, just a short taxi ride.

Funny thing is that we were just on the California Coastal cruise in October. We actually were at that port, but didn't even get off the ship, because we were going to San Diego for five days (after DLR). I guess I didn't even look!

Okay, so perhaps DH and I will cab it over there while my parents watch the boys. Then we will go pick them up.

I had actually forgotten about how close to central San Diego the cruise terminal is. We walked past it on our way to the aircraft carrier the USS Midway.

By the way that is a great place to visit to any of you staying in San Diego for a day or so. If any are staying onboard for the next cruise the USS Midway would be somewhere walkable to spend few hours off the ship. Indeed most of San Diego town itself is walkable from the terminal.

We haven't decided yet what to do when we disembark.

Hello all

We just got off of Fantasy yesterday (what a beautiful ship! Great cruise....I digress...)
and they did offer the 20% discount for this cruise. Yay!

Fingers still crossed for that!

Mr Muush is switching jobs so we don't know what 2014 will hold. But we are hopeful! And booked!

I am on the Costco member's website and seeing that they sell a San Diego 4 day card for sight seeing.

http://www.costco.com/Go-San-Diego-C...100054090.html

Looks interesting. Never been there before! We won't be there that long, but someone else may be interested.

Muushka, glad you got the 20%! Hope we will see you on this sailing!

I didn't realize there was a 2-day after ours. Maybe I woulda booked that? Eh, I guess it's all good. 15 days is a great opportunity for relaxing (I love the sea days!), and we can visit relatives on our one day before going home. And the boys can go back to school on Monday (which I guess should be my priority haha).

I know two families who booked it so they could "try Disney"... but it's really pricey for one day at sea!

DISers, thanks for all of the kind thoughts & well wishes! I appreciate your virtual support

Question for those who have done the older ships (Wonder, Magic) then did a newer ship (Fantasy, Dream)
and then went back to the older ships.
Having just gotten of the Fantasy, I fear we will be let down on the Wonder. We did 3 cruises on the older ships and loved them.
But Fantasy was just stunning and offered so much more than the older ships.
Just wondering your thoughts.

Welcome to all who recently joined our group! Palo brunch during canal transit is a must - we had an incredible view of the storm & the lake.

I can't wait to see our incredible tablemates, but I just found out I'm sick. Barring complications or chemotherapy or restrictions, I hope to meet in319 days! Thanks for the pixie dust
Brixton, you are such a upbeat person, I always enjoy reading your posts.

I hope that your illness is short lived and that this cruise will be a celebration for recovery and good health.

We both love the size of the Magic after having our last 2 DCL cruises on the Dream.

Hi Bobbi

I also like the idea of the smaller ship (especially for the PC, a necessity!).

But the adult areas on the Fantasy were so awesome. I'm afraid I will miss them!

And the artwork that comes alive! I will miss that too!

Hi all Very good info being posted on this site about size of the ships. I prefer the Magic class ships ofver the larger ships due to the ambiance generated on the Wonder. You just can't beat it. IMHO I hope everyone has a great day.
