If we have reserved an excursion...

can we cancel when we get on board if we decide we don't want to leave the ship that day?

Sure, but they will still charge you for it.

From DCL site:

Quote:
Cancellations can be made up to 3 days prior to the cruise departure date. After that time all reservations are final and non-refundable.

isn't that for cancelling your cruise? I'm specifically concerned about a day excursion when the boat docks for a day somewhere...

The above poster is correct and that is for Port Adventures. You can find the full script on DCL's website: http://disneycruise.disney.go.com/cr...re-excursions/

Port Adventures are operated by independent contractors that are neither agents of, nor supervised or controlled by, Disney Cruise Line. Disney Cruise Line does not maintain their facilities or modes of transportation and is not responsible for any injury or property damage/loss that Guests may incur in connection with a Port Adventure. All Port Adventures are subject to the Disney Cruise Line Cruise Contract. All Port Adventures are subject to availability and/or cancellation based on weather, itinerary changes, and attendance. Children under 18 years of age must be accompanied by an adult on Port Adventures except for specific "teen only" Port Adventures. All prices are subject to change without notice. Cancellations can be made up to 3 days prior to the cruise departure date. After that time all reservations are final and non-refundable.

They tell you very clearly that you must cancel three days before departure if you decide you do not want to go the excursion you booked. If you decide after that or that morning to not go, you will still be charged for it. So if you are not sure, maybe don't book it. You can go to the excursion desk once on the boat and see if any are available if you decide once on the boat you want to go. (At least that is what my trusty Passporter says!) But I bet the options are not plentiful at that time especially for excursions that are popular.

The only exception I know of is if the weather is inclement. If they cancel the excursion, you receive full credit to your stateroom account. And if the weather is inclement and they don't cancel the tour, they sometimes give anyone who wishes an option to cancel with full credit as well.

As jilljill said, that *is* for day excursions. If you want to cancel your cruise, that is 100% non-refundable 14 days prior to your cruise.

Correct. If DCL cancels your excursion, for whatever reason, they will refund your money.
