PIF date for Alaska
Is the PIF date for Alaska cruises out of Vancouver 120 days out?
If I am reading the terms and conditions correctly the penalty phase kicks in at 120 days too? 120-56 days you lose your deposit 55 days it is 50% of cruise fare 29 days is 75% of cruise fare 14 days 100% of cruise fare I always thought those were for cruises of 10 days or more only but I just read they are for those originating outside of the US which would include Alaska. I don't know why I thought those rules were 10 days and longer or European cruises only. |

I just booked my Alaskan cruise for June 2nd of 2014 and it says my final payment is March 19th. That seems to be 75 days. I wonder if PIF date is incorrect?!

ANY cruise out of a FOREIGN port will be 120 instead of the other PIF date. Since the Alaskans leave out of Vancouver BC it is a foreign departure so the rule is different - the same as the Europe and (I presume) San Juan departures.
PS - my PIF date for June 2nd 2014 is showing up as Feb 1, 2014. |

It is because it sails out outside the US.

I know that our 2010 WBTA had the PIF date at 120 days but the penalties didn't start until later. We had to cancel after it was PIF. Looks like that has changed now.

What I am finding strange is for the 5/2/14 WBPC my pay in full is 2/16/14 but penalties star 1/3/12. Being a platinum cruiser I know I can start booking that day, but I thought like this years WBPC that the PIF date and penalties would be the same day.

Strange. I just checked my booking and it says PIF is June 4, 2014. That isn't 120 days out. Our cruise is Aug 18th. I have two rooms booked and I checked the date on both to see if one is a misprint but they both say June 4th.

Hi,
Everyone seems to have answered you, but just FYI, we are on the Aug 26th 2013 Alaska sailing, and our PFI date is April 28, 2013. I booked the Med August 2014, and the PFI is also 120 days out. |

Puerto Rico
San Juan is part of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico and is a territory of the US. They became part of the US in the Spanish American War in 1898. They were granted US citizenship in 1917.(supposedly to open them to the draft of WWI) As US citizens, they can vote in primaries, but can not vote for president while residing in Puerto Rico. If they move to one of the 50 states, they can vote for president. They have had their own governor since 1948 and their own constitution since 1952. There is often discussion on whether or not they will become the 51st US State. The current US President is encouraging it based on a non binding referendum in the last 6 months, but many Puerto Ricans are against it. US Virgin Islands The US Virgin Islands are a US Territory 40 miles east of Puerto Rico They was an attempt to purchase them in 1867 from the Danes(Denmark), but it did not actually hapen until 1916-7. Concerns that the Germans would take the islands in WWI during the submarine phase is what prompted finally making it happen. Prior to that they were the Danish West Indies. They are US citizens since 1927 that can vote in primaries, but not vote for president. They are still working on a constitution which has to be approved by the US Congress. The last one in 2009 was rejected. What does this mean? You are still in the US when you visit there. Both were founded by non English speaking countries Both have really nice people Last edited by NWmom; 02-15-2013 at 02:59 PM. Reason: typos from the sticky keyboard |
