What would you do?

We are going on a 4 night Bahamas Dream cruise I'm at the aft part of the ship in a deluxe family oceanview at 141 sq ft. For $90 a can get a verandah but the room itself is like 201 sq ft. Do I give up room space to get a verandah and how much will I use it on a 4 night cruise? It would be nice to have though. I can't decide. Please help, Thanks Our Cruise is in August.

I think you meant 241 sqft for family OV.
Non family veranda 203 sqft inside 38 sqft veranda.
So yes you loose 38 sqft to the veranda for $90 more.
You didn't say how many, and whether adults or kids, in your traveling party.

Most will say, stay with OV. I was surprised how little we used the balcony.

What would I do? Spend way to much for a family veranda (256 sqft inside)if it was more than two adults in cabin.

DW and I love the verandah, we do use it. I love it first thing in the morning with a cup of coffee and the navigator while DW (and DS when he tags along) get ready for the day. Will use it throughout the day to have some down/quite time. And in the evening before calling it a night just to unwind. So for us it's worth it.

We have 2 adults and 2 kids, so we wanted the extra "space". Sometimes a SEPARATE area is more important then square footage So DH and I can be out on the verandah while the girls are inside napping, etc. Not so important if it is just 2 adults.

For $90 I'd do it. It was $1400 when we cruised.

I will be the one person that is different. Book a cheep inside room and keep the money for the next cruise. How often do you go to your room and why. We only go to the room to shower, change and sleep. We can do that in a small inside room. When we did Alaska and Panama canal we were on the top desk seeing the sites so we could see both sides of the ship. there are much better places to hang out than on a veranda by yourself.

Now with that said... the one exception... if you have little kids that take a nap you would want the veranda to hang out in while your kids nap.

I booked the verandha only to get the confirmation email that is a undersized partially obstructed. Shouldn't they tell you that when you book it. To get the non obstructed it's going to be about $300 beacause they said the only non obstructed is mid ship. Does anyone have any experience with the obstructed? thanks

I have younger kids and we always take a break in the room every afternoon. They watch TV while I pretend they are napping and DH and I order a cheese plate and open a bottle of wine to enjoy on the verandah. Before we started booking the verandah DH and I were annoyed that we had to sit in the room doing nothing while the girls needed that downtime but now we look forward to it. I would book the verandah.

I love e veranda. I used it while the kids were napping, after they went to bed, when they needed downtime, for a few minutes before or after dinner, for breakfast and just for the view. Might not have cared as much if I didn't have kids and had more flexibility. I just loved looking outside.
