General Q about flights for European Cruises
In general is it more expensive to fly into one airport and out of another than it is to fly round trip? I'm asking because I see that the two new 12-night Med itineraries depart from Barcelona and arrive in Venice, and vice versa. I'm already dreading the cost of the flights, so if it's cheaper to fly round trip to Barcelona I may lean toward Itinerary A (this year's "12-Night Med w/Greece," which is being offered once next year).

When flying from the US to Europe, in general it makes little difference if you are flying into one city and out from another -- as that is something most people do anyway. Basically, you get half the roundtrip fare for each leg added together to get you the multi-city flight itinerary you need.
It also gives you the opportunity to explore two different cities if you extend your trip a couple days on both ends of your cruise. |

When book flights to then from different cities, don't book two separate one-way flights. It's more expensive. Book using the multi-city option and it will be slightly more then return fare but not as high as one-way fare.
Have fun planning! |

As others have mentioned, booking it as a single journey with an "open jaw" (into one city and out of the second) is much cheaper than trying to book two one-ways. Note, though, that flights in and out of VCE tend to be a bit more expensive than tickets in and out of BCN during the summer months. So, having one of the legs be into or out of VCE will probably make your journey more expensive than would a round trip to BCN, though not significantly so and that's not always the case depending on when you book.
