Have you all seen this video from a passenger detailing their experience. It's called "From Triumph to Tragedy".

Just saying.

I agree. I felt perfectly safe, maybe even more so than usual, sailing on the Splendor after the repairs were done when they'd had the fire off the Mexican Riviera.

FOX news late last night had some "famous" maritime attorney on, and he said that the lawsuits wouldn't get anyone very far at all.

Is anyone, other than lawyers themselves???? For all the good ones, you've got four ambulance chasers out there.

Most lawsuits are about who can tell the better story.

Agreed. With the media, you have to be careful what you believe (I think we've learned that lesson with politics)....they're always going to show the people who feel as though they had the WORST situation, and edit out anyone who didn't complain.

That's certainly not what I saw on CNN as they interviewed disembarking passengers live.

While I have stated it is HIGHLY unlikely I would ever cruise at all (I'd love to, it's just a vacation plan with some variables like what happened here that I cannot risk...for now) if I were going to cruise it wouldn't be on the Triumph. For starters, no matter how well they cleaned it I'd be thinking about the raw sewage etc.

Just sayin'.
That is easier said than done!

There is an age-old sailing superstition that says you should never rename a boat. Sea God Neptune keeps a record of every vessel in his waters and he doesn't like change. So what if the name of your new boat is something unbearable like "Dead Fish"? What can be done? The answer is to hold a renaming ceremony. First, remove all traces of the old name, not only from the yacht itself, but also from the lifebuoys and transom, as well as from any logbooks, charts or papers it features in. Second, thank Neptune and Aeolus, the keeper of the winds, for the protection they've provided your yacht so far. Then kindly request that Neptune strikes the old name from his Ledger of the Deep and ask that the gods give your newly named yacht their blessing. Finally, it's necessary to sacrifice some alcohol to appease the gods. Any bottle of alcoholic beverage will do. Not all of us have Queen Elizabeth II on hand to break a bottle of expensive champagne over the bow.

This is exactly what I was thinking. It was not sensationalized one bit on this broadcast. I felt most people gave all the glory to God and were pretty cool-headed about it, considering. I haven't watched one broadcast about it myself since that. And it's funny because the more you watch it, the more they will keep airing it and in a more sensationalized fashion. It was one thing to watch it unfold, now it's done, over, everyone's safe, life goes on.

I kind of agree that no matter how well they clean it, if she sails again, it'll be able to be smelled during summers in the caribbean, at least near the bottom of the ship lol

Also, if they just renamed it, it would almost feel like a cover up and I think that would upset people more.

There's enough enzymes and other ways that they can clean the ship and you'd never know what happened.

I saw on the Carnival website that the Carnival Destiny had a $155 million renovation (in 49 days) and is now renamed the Carnvial Sunshine. Same ship, different name.

"THE BIGGEST TRANSFORMATION EVER"

Maybe that's the plans for the Triumph. Just announcing "THE BIGGER THAN BIGGEST TRANSFORMATION EVER" They should change the name to Carnival Survivor.

Would anyone book on this ship? Even if it was renovated and renamed?

Why not? People still ride on theme park attractions where people have been maimed and killed, including Disney attractions. And no one died, or was seriously injured on the Triumph. The conditions were terrible, but there really was no danger.

Once fully renovated, it should pretty much be a "like new" ship, name change or not. I'm booked on her for September.

If I didn't have kids, I could understand the feeling that it might actually be safer than most other ships after having a renovation, but after all this mess, I'm not sure I want to take my kids on ANY cruise ship. I would feel scared to death to leave them and get remotely inebriated or have any fun whatsoever, considering I might have to do a rescue mission at any given moment lol. Crazy to some people - watching over my most beloved, to me.
