I have been a Close To My Heart consultant for 13 years. I have to say that I LOVE how I structure my business. I operate on a club basis. For those who don't know, CTMH is scrapbooking and stamping supplies. I have 10 people in each club and we meet monthly. Each member agrees to purchase at least $15 each month in product whether they attend the meeting or not. The members take turns hosting. The hostess provides the treats and gets the hostess rewards. That way they don't have to stress about who to invite, I charge $2.50 additional for the scrapbook layout and those who choose cards get to make 2 for free (my cost is minimal for that). It guarantees me my minimum sales quota, and I really get to form friendships with those ladies in my clubs. I highly recommend that structure for many direct sales companies.

That scapbooking club idea sounds fun. I am with South Hill Designs, we sell personalized lockets and other jewelry. Since being in this business my eyes have got open to scrapbooking. My goodness I did not realize what it was, what people can make!! Oh my I would really like to learn how to be so crafty in that way.Going to Michaels and pat catans has turned my income into becoming more crafty!!

Why would you want a "job" like this??? This is nothing but a way to get family and friends to avoid you at all costs!!!!

Hosting "parties" where people are pressured into buying something. Calling people to let them know about the latest, greatest items.

The ONLY people who truly make money in these types of "jobs" are the companies. If you factor in all the time, travel, party costs, party gifts, the stuff YOU must buy as a rep, etc, you really aren't making much.

I found a DS job that I LOVE. I'm not a friend harasser, but I make 50% so it adds up quick. I don't understand all the haters. If DS isn't for you, that's cool. I was looking for constructive feedback.

I have never done direct sales, but as a buyer, I am only interested in consumables. I will never again need to buy any Tupperware, Pampered Chef, jewelry, etc. BUT I am desperate to find a new Tastefully Simple consultant! Cannot live without the Spinach Dip Mix!

I have a niece that sells Miche. She really likes it. She doesn't always do house parties but sets up booths at different craft type sales and has online parties. And I'm sure there are other ways.
