Retailers will have to post on their doors and near checkout that they are charging a fee to use a CC.

So far, I haven't seen a single sign. It looks like all the paranoia about this has become a non-starter. Retailers know their customers, upon seeing that sign, would turn around and leave without darkening their doorways, so they're keeping the current structure, where it's built into the cost of things and if you pay cash, you're actually subsidizing the CC users.

Of course, I use my Disney Chase everywhere, sooooo. . .I'm one of the ones who is penalizing the cash customers. . .

There is already a long thread here on this topic:

Yes, there is a thread about CC swipe fee's...
But, It ends before the fee's go into effect.

The purpose of this thread is to post which retailers are actually charging the fee.

I have not encountered any yet.
Anyone else?

Fees, not fee's.

I don't know of any retailers charging the fee.

I imagine most larger retailers will not be charging the fee... I do expect that a bunch of mom & pop shops will charge the fee (think craft fairs, nj & md boardwalk shops)

if I were a mom / pop store I'd offer a cash discount rather than a cc fee.

A lot of them have been doing this for a while.

In defense of small business, when a customer charges a very inexpensive item...let's say $3.00...the swipe fee and percentage fee would wipe out mst of the profit built into the price of an item that cheap.
Frankly, I am floored when I see someone in WaWa charge a candy bar and pack of gum. Big businesses like WaWa, etc. probably get preferred rates from their credit card companies, but there sure can't be much profit left when someone charges such tiny amounts. Small businesses (mom and pop operations) do not get preferred rates.
A cash discount also eats the profit. Raising prices is the only alternative then everyone complains about that.

Florida and California are two of the 10 US states that ban checkout fees, including credit card surcharges. So no worries for your WDW/DL vacations.

I believe the other states are: Colorado, Connecticut, Kansas, Maine, Massachusetts, New York, Oklahoma, and Texas.

I am afraid that one large national retailer will start charging the fee.

Like the airlines with baggage fees(sp correction due to lost in cyber space)
Every Retailer will jump on Board...And start Charging...

There goes our Credit Card rewards down the drain....

Why are you floored? I sometimes go an entire week on $5 cash. We haven't hit the ATM in about two months. We charge everything we buy, big, little, and everywhere in between. It helps us keep track of purchases, get rewards, etc. Wawa is making a good bit on my $1 coffee--even if I charge it. I'm sure they make even more on my gas purchase.

It may just be a few cents that I get when I charge a coffee, but if I do it often enough, it becomes worth my while. It's just as easy as a cash transaction and less likely to contain errors.
