GF foods at Disney

Does anyone know where we can get a list of Gluten Free counter service as well as table service foods? Thank you.

This should probably be moved to the disABILITIES! board. The email address for the Special Diets department is in one of the stickies over there. If you email them, they'll send you the latest and greatest lists.

When making your ressies for TS, choose the GF option on the reservation, a chef will come out and talk with you. In addition, the chef may be able to make a gluten free dish for you as he did for me in the case of HDDR.

Most, if not all, counter service places have GF buns. They will be extremely accomodating if you just ask. But I would look other places on the boards if you want info before you visit.

If you are only looking at gluten free, it will feel a lot like going out to eat without any restriction- they will have at least one bread substitution pretty much everywhere. They will have baked goods as well, pizza crusts, breaded chicken, etc.

We want to do HDDR on our trip this fall. Are any of the regular items gluten free? What did you get specially made?

My DD8 is gf. All I can say is you will feel like you are taking a vacation from the gf diet. Best experience ever. I can't remember exactly what she ate at Hoop De Doo, but I think they brought her baked chicken breast, instead of deep fried with batter. And I am pretty sure she got a gf portion of corn bread. Other than that, dessert she got vanilla ice cream.

Last summer we stayed at Bonnet Creek because cash was tight and figured it was the perfect year to try the larger accommodations. After driving for 13 hours, we arrived and wanted nothing more than to sit at a restaurant and get served a hot meal. Well, we went to 3 different onsite restaurants at Bonnet Creek and not one of them could feed her. I felt like crying and she WAS crying. I decided to hop back in the car and go to Caribbean Beach Resort. I walked in feeling defeated, and asked if they had anything gluten free. They asked what she wanted because they could make her anything. Pasta, pizza, burger, sandwich, anything she wanted. You will have an amazing gluten free vacation.

We have done two trips with my gf Celiac son. Disney is fantastic.
Table service is your best options but they do have gf options for counter service as well. Request a list of gf options from the email address above and ask to speak to the head chef at each counter service. We had a list of each restaurant we would go to each day planned before we left home. This helped ensure everything went smoothly and we knew what to ask for. We were even given a special bag of treats for our son when we attended the halloween party.

Favorites:
Cosmic rays 1/2 Rotisserie Chicken
served with Mashed Potatoes and a Seasonal Vegetable

Peco's Bill 1/3lb cheese burger (on gf bun)

La Cantina de San Angel (everything on a corn tortilla)

Pizza Planet (offers individual gf pizza's)

Flame Tree BBQ (1/2 slab ribs, coleslaw and beans)

Typhoon Tilly's (hotdog on gf bun)

Lotta Watta Lodge (cheese burger on gf bun)

We spent 14 days in Orlando this fall. I've reviewed several CS and TS restaurants linked below. (I'm not ony gf, but egg, dairy and others) I had a great experience at Disney and ate better than ever!

My friend and fellow DISer, Clarabelle Cow, was recently interviewed for an article about food allergies, including gluten. Here's the link http://magicmemoriesmayhem.com/walt-...ood-allergies/ . There are multiple food allergies in her family and they dine at WDW all the time since they now live nearby.

I would suggest going over to the disABILITIES Forum. One of the first threads is the disABILITIES FAQs. There are also a lot of threads in that forum related to dietary restrictions. To get directly to the disABILITIES FAQs from here just click on the link in my signature.

Won't help with advance planning but you could likely get a list at City Hall that gives you your options.

There is currently a list of GF options for Disneyland on the Disneyland Board.

Thanks so much for your responses everyone. We haven't been to Disney in seven years and we are SO happy that we are going in less than three weeks! Last time we were there they were wonderful with table service, but not so great, at that time, with counter service. It looks like it is much better now. Nothing puts a bigger smile on my face than to see my son eating -- like everyone else and not being told no all the time! Thanks everyone.

For my girls and I who are gluten and a whole lot of other stuff free, we've been served baked chicken, sauceless ribs (I'm not sure if the sauce was a problem due to gluten or one of our other allergies/intollerances so the sauce may be ok; the rub is definitely gluten free), gluten free bread, salad, beans (these were the regular beans with nothing special done to them), corn (ours was separate because they normally come with butter but I think the regular corn is ok for those who are only gluten free) and baked potatoes. We've gotten different desserts on different trips but I think that the most common gluten free dessert there is fresh strawberries with ice cream.

Most other posters commented on their GF experience at HDDR...so I wont be repetitive. I don't eat bread in general so I just told the chef not to worry. For dessert, he made me gluten free brownies.
