Tell me about May
We are traveling at a new time this year...May 9-18. What can we expect for crowds? What about weather? We were originally booked 5/24-6/1, but I backed it up b/c I got a deal on airfare and we were worried about Memorial Day crowds.
I am also excited to see all the flower and garden festival topiaries! |

My two adult son's (20 and 18) had their Senior Grad Nite in late May, but the parks close for this event. There are high schools that go to Disney for an entire week with the Disney Youth Program. This is usually May time-frame as well. I just checked our high school calendar and the last day of school for Seniors is May 22nd. All other grades June 4th is last day.

Last May (17-20) was busier than I expected. I think crowds averaged about a 7. And although less humid, the sun was stong by the afternoon.
As with most days, I recommend going at rope drop. We did this on two of those days (MK and HS) and walked on nearly every ride and weren't miserable in the heat. By the afternoon, we were back at our resort and in the pool. |

May is my favorite time of year. Was there last year about the same time. Weather was great, crowds were low (weekends and little higher but still manageable), and low humidity. That time of year, to me, is the best time to go. Kids are still in school and yet you have warm but not too hot weather. Coming from the Pacific NW it is a great change. I hope you enjoy your trip during this time as much as we do!

We have been in May before and the weather is beautiful... we go during the F&GF now in April we love Epcot during this time
![]() The only issues we have were the grad night but we worked around those so really no-biggy and I remember that early in the week the parks were moderate in crowds but towards Thurs and Fri. it was busier with several school groups on field trips noticed it alot more at DHS especially around RR and TT. Of coarse this was before we had to start going during spring break ( we are now very used to large crowds) before those trips we always went at low peak times so we were spoiled. The last time we went in May was 7 years ago this coming May and the last time we have been to WDW during moderate to low crowds but we make it work now its the price we have to pay without the kids missing any school.

2nd week of May is my absolute favorite time to visit WDW! Crowds aren't terrible and weather is perfect! The only reason we aren't going then this yr is DS is graduating from HS and May is fully booked!
have fun!

We had picked the last week of april, but found the prices and crowd predictions were better the following week, so that is why we chose that time. |

What you dont know is that each Mickey mouse hat you buy is a mind controlling device..this is how they get families to overspend on food and souvenirs!

Also flower and garden festival. They say you can get a Dole whip with spiced rum at Epcot this year.

May Crowds/Heat
We were there last year May 9-13 and always got to the parks at RD, but hopped. Crowds were always very light in the morning, and we managed the later crowds with FP. However, we learned (this was our first trip, being longtime Disneyland goers) that it's not all that fun to be in the park from about noon-4:00. It's hot and the crowds are at their worst levels. We are planning to be either in an air conditioned restaurant or back at the Yacht Club pool during those times.
Btw, we are headed there again this year from May 10-15 and it will be me and two 11 year olds (my daughter will be celebrating her BD there, and I am bringing her friend with us.) |
