They've been talking about this for days now.

Apparently, the news agencies have been asked not to report on what is happening right now there, so they're standing by while we wait.

They're also reporting that he is in a vacation home. The owner saw her cabin on the news when they showed a picture of it and called the police to let them know what was in her cabin. I'm glad there weren't any people in there.

Just reporting now (16:20) that the cabin is engulfed in fire - black smoke. They had shot tear gas there, and hearing that they are not sending anyone to put it out.

That was what I was thinking as well.

At least this time there weren't several dozen innocent women and children in there with him getting burnt alive in the process.

I hope he was the only one in that cabin.

Actually it is a fire NEXT to the cabin. That is what KTLA News that I am watching is reporting. Not a cabin but a fire in the woods NEXT to the cabin.

Watching on CNN (near Philadelphia) and I am bewildered!!!!! They are going to set the enitre mountain on fire to get this guy. I simply don't get why they didn't wait this guy out a bit and put a better plan together. Reminds me of an incident in Philly years ago when the police set an entire neighborhood on fire in order to get to a group.

CNN also just mentioned-----wood cabins, propane, kerosene, ammunition, side of mountain, 20 degree weather--don't get why the rush--and they aren't even sure where this guy is........

If they let the standoff go on for hours or days it means that the resources guarding the area are tied up for hours or days, costing tons of money. Plus there is the risk he will kill more innocent people. This has gone on long enough as it is.

Not sure that fire is the best alternative though. They should just send in a swat team covered in head-to-toe Kevlar and get the guy.

The News is now saying Dorner is setting or shooting off the ammunition that is setting the fires not the police.

The owner of the Cabin JUST rented it out THIS past weekend to this couple that are in there. The owner turned on the News and realized it was HIS cabin and called the Police to tell them who he rented it to and who is in there and that it is a couple.
Owner also said that it has NOTHING in it. No electricity no running water nothing.

NOW they are confirming that the cabin is on fire.
it is reported that Dorner said he will NOT come out alive.

I have a feeling if the couple was in there when he got there, they are no longer with us. From what I've heard he wasn't a take hostages kind. He was a kill whoever is in my way kind.

KFI said the cabin is on fire - they heard one gunshot and the fire caught on fire, and they've heard ammo exploding ....

Christopher Dorner, who hours earlier had killed one San Bernadino sheriff's deputy and wounded another before barricading himself in the cabin, was believed to be inside. Dorner, who vowed not to be taken alive, had been surrounded inside the cabin since early Tuesday afternoon. Sources said ammunition was exploding inside the cabin, in the rural Big Bear community where he apparently has been hiding since sometime last week.

LA Times - Cabin Owner

Candy Martin was sitting down for an episode of "Walking Dead" with her daughter when she turned on the news and saw her Big Bear-area vacation cabin surrounded by police amid reports of a shootout involving the wanted fugitive Christopher Dorner.

Her son called police to let them know she was the owner of the 85-year-old cabin, one in a cluster of seven cabins that she owns along California 38 near the community of Seven Oaks. Martin talked to police, telling them the cabins were supposed to be empty Monday and had no cable, phone or Internet service. There were also no firearms inside, she said.

"I was basically in a state of shock," Martin said.
