Reservation Change Question

Originally, my in-laws were going to go with us in their own stateroom. We booked 00V, so they wanted to book 00V (on the Fantasy).

Now, due to various circumstances, they're saying that they probably won't go. It's a pain in the patoot, but oh well.

They know that they'll lose their deposit since it's a concierge room.

Anyway...my question is this: Can they "transfer" their reservation to my father and his wife (which will be a different last name)?

Also, they booked via traditional agent (they're not Costco members). If my father wanted to transfer the res to Costco, could he do that as well?

Our cruise isn't until Sept, so we're more than 6 mos out.

Thanks.

No. You cannot transfer a reservation to different people. At least the lead name needs to cruise to keep the reservation. The only way to do this is cancel their name and then your father can book on his own, but it will be at the current rate.

Thanks. I was afraid of that. I'm guessing that once they cancel, the room will go to the first person on the waitlist (I think they do that on DCL?). I checked yesterday and it looks like 00V's are sold out for our cruise date.

I'm going to tell them to just hold off on canceling until it gets closer to the full payment date (in early June).

Thanks.

I haven't seen posts about wait lists for concierge since they put them as an option online. It use to be a very big thing with posts all the time. Might still be that way for the Walt & Roy, but not the others, so once it is released with the cancellation it would go back into inventory and the first one to grab it would get it. If you have a TA, or your father does, you could let them know when it is going to be cancelled and they could watch closely for it to show available again. There is a lag time for that to happen.

I wonder if you could "add" your parents to the room (if there is "room" per disney regs) then just drop ONE of your in-laws, then have one in-law as guest one and one of your parents as guest 2 (both full fare) then your final parent as guest 3 (would cost the third fare to do all this) then have your in-law as a no show (no refund). Would that work disboards experts?

If you booked both rooms yourself, you could theoretically play some musical chairs, if you have another adult in your room already.

Current:

room 1 - you, adult2
room 2 - inlaws 1 and 2

Interim:

room 1 - you and inlaw 1
room 2 - adult 2 and inlaw 2

Final:

room 1 - you and father
room 2 - adult 2 and father's wife

Bonus:

room 1 - you and adult 2
room 2 - father and wife

If you cannot do the last, you would just 'change rooms' - the only difference would be with keys and muster stations.

Of course this is all speculation. If you book yourself directly, you might be able to try all if this online yourself. If you are working with a TA, call the TA and see if the above is possible...

DCL created a little magic to get me two OOVs..last spring. I'm on a wait list for a one bedroom on the Fantasy in April, but I'm not very hopeful.

Would this work? I thought the "lead name" on the reservation has to remain or it's a cancellation and re-booking. Did I misunderstand the rules?

You are correct. At least one name needs to remain the same from the beginning of the reservation.
