Shuttle From SNA to Disneyland?
This is the first time DH and I will be flying to Disneyland. We are arriving at SNA orange County.
Can someone tell me what are my options for getting to the hotel? Which is best a Taxi or a Shuttle? Is there even a shuttle available? What are the costs for each as well as approximate travel times? Thanks for your help! |

We always use supershuttle. It's easy to book a trip online. You just head to the shuttle area and they pick you up. We were just there, with a group of 8. We reserved an entire van for $76 (pre-tip).
I believe I have read that a one way taxi is somewhere in the $35 range for one person? Hopefully someone will chime in with more info on taxis. |

How far is the drive from SNA to DLR? We rented a car for our upcoming trip. How far is the beach or the San Diego zoo, Legoland, Universal from DLR? Close enough to drive??? More interested in the beach!
![]() When I called to confirm our reservation, the CM gave me a couple of shuttles' names-DL Resort Express 714-978-8855 and Super Shuttle 800-258-3826 and Grey Line Shuttle 714-978-8855. I haven't used any of them, but these were some names and numbers that they have on some list.

I guess part of the answer also depends on what hotel you are staying at. We have stayed at the Grand a couple of times. Everytime we do, we take the DL express. The Grand is the first drop for the express so from Airport to Hotel it takes 30 mins tops. Plus, it is so big, I have never been on it with more then 2 or 3 other families you don't feel cramped. And if you have smaller ones (which I do) you dont need car seats. Now if I was staying at an off site hotel I don't know how easy their system is. If you go to the Gray lines site I think you can get a voucher for 5 ppl for 75.00 round trip. The car seat thing is worth it to me.

Yesterday we just hopped into a taxi and it was slick! We were a group of 4 and it cost 40+ tip. This was our first visit so u don't have anything to compare to but would definitely do a taxi again.

For 2 people, use SuperShuttle. Go to their website and reserve it--use coupon code UYR59 (or Google for others) and it's $7 pp plus tip, which you can also prepay online. If you don't reserve ahead online, it's still only $10 each and you can just walk out to the shuttle area and they'll set you up. A shared van from SNA is very, very simple. They don't drive around the airport like at LAX so you generally wait about 10 minutes tops and the drive is less than 20. A taxi will cost you ~$45 plus tip so it's a big savings for 2 people. Supershuttle = $33 RT for 2 including tip; Taxi = $100 RT for 2.
ETA: forgot to mention that if you use the coupon code for supershuttle, do 2 separate reservations to get the full discount. It's easy...you just do the first one and then hit the back button and do the second.

I believe that they are. When I have called super shuttle in the past they told me they were required. And they did not supply for a charge either. On the Express they are not required.

Car seats are definitely required on shuttles/taxis per California hold passenger safety laws. With the exception of buses such as DRE or grey line type buses (they are exempt due to crash dynamics such as size comparison and compartmentalization). How many in your group and where are you staying? If there are just a few of you and you take SS you could potentially have 3-4 stops before your hotel. If you take DRE and you're staying on site the most stops you'll have is 2 before your hotel. We took the DRE last year and loved it. We bought a family pack for 79$ RT which we thought was a great value. We stated at PPH.

We are renting a car, do I need a booster seat for my 7.5 year old? I am not sure what California allows?

Technically, you need a booster, but how tall/big is your child? Good luck!

From the office of traffic safety for california (hope this helps!)
California’s Occupant Protection Law As of 2012, California law requires that children be properly secured in the back seat in a proper child restraint system until they are at least eight years old.* Additionally, all children under age 16 must be properly secured in either a proper child restraint system or seat belt. On a first offense, a child passenger violation will cost a minimum of $475 with penalty assessments. A second or subsequent offense carries a minimum cost of $1,055. If the parent is not in the car, the driver gets the ticket.

Chp website goes on to say "Children under the age of 8 who are 4' 9" or taller may be secured by a safety belt in the back seat. "
So it will depend on his height. But we found the bubblebum booster to be great for travel, since we had the high back nautilus in our car at home and therefore no easy booster otherwise. Shuttles are vans and yes , in an accident yo would want everyone to be buckled in. First stop for Express bus is not always the Grand. Going to resorts I have ONLY yet experienced the DLH being first stop, with Grand not necessarily even being second. Grey line IS Disneyland resort express, fwiw. I like Karmel shuttle, personally, if I'm not renting a car (but we usually have a car for grocery purposes).
