Welcome Aboard Ship tour?

This will be our 3rd cruise on the Dream, and we've never done the Welcome Aboard Ship Tour. Do they share any interesting facts or secrets that a normal cruiser would miss? Is it a fun experience or a waste of time for previous cruisers?

This tour is a pretty basic introduction to where things are. I think you would learn very little from it. On the other hand, "The Art of the Theme Show" tour is a fantastic in depth look at decorations, color choices, and history behind the creation of the Disney ships. I have taken that tour several times.

We took the Art of the Theme tour on our Jan 12 Fantasy cruise and loved it.

First time cruiser here. Is there a charge for things like the 'Art of the Theme' tour or things like cooking classes?

The tours and cooking classes are free. The tastings are $15-$30 per person.

I think the ship tour is OK for first timers as it orientates you a little. I don't think it would be worth it if you have been on the ship twice before. They don't go much beyond deck 3/4/5 if I remember rightly, mainly the cinema, theater, MDR restaurants, running track and shopping area where you meet.

Is the Art of Theme tour appropriate for a 7 year old, or would it be boring? He's been learning quite a bit about the ship and cruise line in our school studies leading up to the trip (we home school), so I'm wondering if this would be a good thing for him to do.

Any other suggestions as to how we could extend his learning while on board? Any possibilities of "interviewing" any CMs (besides the room host & servers...we plan on talking with them) or any other behind the scenes things we could do?

Usually The Art Of The Theme tour is for adults only.
