Best place to see seals between Disneyland and San Diego
We'll be travelling from Disneyland to San Diego zoo for one day of our trip next week. I was wondering where would be the best place to stop and possibly see some seals.
Thanks!

Hands down, no question about it - Children's Pool at La Jolla Cove!!! Search Google and you'll find out more.

Thanks. I just mapped it. I knew about it, but for some reason I thought La Jolla was more out of the way of our route.

Nope not at all! La Jolla Village Dr. exit off the 5, follow it around the UCSD campus, and turn left onto Torrey Pines and follow that down into La Jolla. Very quick from the freeway.
Great place for families!

You don't have to leave San Diego to see the seals. They have a tour there called Ride the Seals. They will take you out to them and you can be about 15 feet from them.
Heres the link. http://www.sealtours.com/index.asp

They just installed a "live seal cam" as well so you can also check this out. I believe it streams live footage from the area. You should be able to google it.

Not only will you see seals, you will see one of the most beautiful cities in California. Make sure to have lunch at one of the outdoor restaurants in La Jolla.

Definitely checking out the Children's Pool area this weekend! My boyfriend and I are staying at the Hilton La Jolla Torrey Pines after our 3 days in Disneyland.

Protip: Get a sandwich from El Pescador fish market or a taco to go from Don Carlos Taco Shop (both on Pearl St.) and eat on the grass near the seals.
San Diego native for 30+ years and still one of our favorite things to do. Safe travels! |
