How heartbreaking, I am so sorry . Sending hugs and prayers your beloved Nona is safe and sound somewhere . Try not to be too hard on yourself, your Nona knows how much you loved her . There's always room for a miracle for her to come home.

Adding a prayer that someone took her in and you get her back soon! They do hate the cold, so I'm thinking someone picked her up, she would not run away in that weather.

PS: she is beautiful!

I have 17 steps up to the apartment and saw my bichon turn the corner at the top so I assumed my always cold and in a hurry to get under blankets Chihuahua, Nona, was up there as well. I was wrong. And I didn't know for a little while. When I pulled the treats out she didn't come. I frantically looked everywhere and she wasn't in the house. I went outside and couldn't see her- anywhere. I searched for 3 hours, every nook and cranny I could around the complex I live in. No luck. I hoped that someone had found her and took her in for the night and we would connect in the morning. I posted pictures and signs all over the complex so that person could see them and contact me.

No phone call today.

I called shelters, Vets, sherifs, my complex office. They called neighbors and they posted it to facebook. I even paid findtoto.com to make 250 calls.

Nothing. My poor baby either froze to death trying to find a place to get warm or someone took her and doesn't want to give her back.

I'm depressed. Sad. Guilty. I hate myself. I'll never forgive myself.

I am so sorry my little Nona. You were such a good girl and knew nothing but love for everyone.

I would strongly suggest that you put an ad on Craigslist offering a large reward. Don't describe the dog in too much detail so that you can be sure that you are really talking to someone who has or has seen the dog. Never send money or give money until you have the dog in your possession, Also, check the found ads on Craigslist and in the newspaper daily. Put up flyers everywhere offering a reward. Contact any local rescue groups for Chihuahuas. Sometimes shelters will release dogs to breed rescue groups. Walk your local shelters and leave flyers with them. Go to shelters that are not very near you. Sometimes a dog is picked up at one place and taken to a shelter at another area. Don't give up! Dogs are often reunited with their owner at a later date. Does your dog have a chip? If it does, you can prove ownership. This can be very helpful if you see your dog in someone else's backyard. Good luck and please keep us informed.

That's terrible! I have a male chihuahua who looks just like your doggie! And yes, chihuahuas get cold even when it's in the 60's. Anything lower than that, and my dog is outside just to go potty, and he's standing by the door to be let in, like, 60 seconds later. He hates the cold! But we have a fenced in back yard. Before, we did live in an apartment, but they required all dogs be on leashes. So we never let our dogs out to roam around alone.
