Do I need to pay when booking excursions?

We are able to enter our info and book excursions in a few weeks. Do I need to pay if I book an excursion immediately or how does this work? Thanks!!

No. It will appear as a charge on your onboard account.

Somewhat related - can I prepay toward my onboard account with Disney gift cards online before I sail, or use GCs at guest services onboard to prepay on my account?

Yes to both. We find it easier to just bring the GC and then go to guest services to apply them. That way we know for sure that they have been applied.

We were so spoiled by DCL that the first time we cruised with another line, we were surprised when asked to pay right then and there for excursions we were wanting to book.

We do this, too - but don't go too early to guest services to apply them - wait til later the first night or sometime the next day. We tried to apply them before sailaway and their system wasn't ready to take the payments.

Yep. We recently booked a shore excursion on another cruise line, four mos in advance, and had to pay for it before they'd confirm the booking. pffft.
