And I'm not really a huge fan of that kind of music. Much prefer rock. (90's 'rock' was the best!) Country half-time show? I'll switch channels. No thanks.
That how I feel about rock. I turn the channel

Well, Zombies ARE pretty hot right now in pop culture. So we might be on to something here.

That said, I listen to just about everything. The only genre that I normally stay away from is Rap/R&B and even then there are songs I enjoy. Just as a whole genre it is not my favorite and there are many artists/songs that I flat out will not listen to. Otherwise... Rock, Pop, Country, Classical, Opera, Folk... I enjoy most of it. There will be artists in each I don't like (*cough* Bieber *cough*), but I don't write off all of it.

I'm not really a fan of Beyonce, but I wanted her to do well. It was disappointing.

I also thought the show looked oddly pre-taped or something. Just couldn't put my finger on it, but something wasn't right about it.

I would've MUCH rather seen a rock group, or a few older "stadium" groups perform one or two of their hits. Could you imagine? Kansas, Boston, Aerosmith, REO, etc.....

That's what I thought. I told DD's that it looked like it was a movie not a live show. hmmmm?

My DH said it looked like a music video. We weren't impressed. We were at a friends house and no one there liked it. Pretty much everyone thought it was inappropriate for a family halftime show. Several friends on FB thought the same. Never been a Beyonce fan. Absolutely hated her outfit. I'd rather see a production show done by a local college or something similar. Heck, I remember when marching bands put on great shows. There hasn't been a great halftime show in years. Madonna did nothing for me and "The Who" were horrible.

I told my boyfriend, I think we are now out of the target audience.
Janet Jackson and what's his name and now Beyonce, not my cup of tea.

I could not understand one word she said or sang. We were laughing when she kept jerking her head.

Come on NIners!!!! I just had to turn the channel, I can't watch. I did that on Joe Montana's hail Mary years ago too. I just can't take it.

I don't care much for Beyonce but I had no problem with the show. I told DS that a lot of people wouldn't like it but there's really no way to please everyone. I remember when they've had classic rock performers that some people complain that they're too old. If they have who is current people complain that the performance is bad and they want older performers. It's impossible to find anyone that will please everyone.

Meh...I liked the halftime show. Enjoyed seeing Destiny's Child back together (though clearly the other two girls had their mic at a lower volume than Beyonce's).

Perhaps you'd be happier with a return to Up With People?

I think she rocked it. Mics were off but still she puts on a good performance. I've seen her live before (for free!) and it made me a fan of her when I wasn't before the concert. I'd much much much prefer her over Aerosmith! Pass.

I LOVED the outfit. If I had her body I would wear it everywhere; grocery shopping, PTA meetings, church. Everywhere. And I'd bring a wind machine. And do the Single Ladies dance.

I think this fits well in the discussion:

I can tell you with certainty that she performed in the Superdome today - BEFORE the lights went out.

My whole family loved Beyonce's halftime show, I thought she did awesome. That said.....I'm a Beyonce fan, we're fans of R&B music in general so it was right up our alley.

If it was country, we wouldn't even watch it, same with rock bands from the 80's...it's just not our cup of tea but obviously country and old rock band fans would love it. It all depends on what you like, what's popular right now and who will put on an entertaining show. They're obviously not going to be able to please everyone.
