Am I understanding this right? The cabanas are on a separate part of the beach?

My dh wants to rent a cabana on CC. We'll see if it happens since we are first time cruisers . Anyway, am I understanding this correctly? The cabanas are located on a separate section where only those who rent cabanas can access? So it's less crowded?

Yep. The cabanas are at the far end of the beach, separated by a rope. The cabanas all share the beach, but you end up with your own space in front of your cabana. Plenty of chairs, loungers and floating mats/ inner tubes.

I love it when I get to post this picture from our favorite cabana. The beach is never crowded, and neither is the roped off section of water for floating around.

As a first time cruiser if you want a cabana you will need to upgrade to concierge or check multiple times a day in case of a cancellation.

DVCNuts - that is a beautiful picture!

I don't know anything about upgrading to concierge. I know so much about Disney but I feel like I'm starting over since we have never cruised on Disney (and haven't cruised since 1999).

This is how I feel too.

How much are the cabanas? What's the process to reserving them for us first time cruisers non concierge?

We just got home from our cruise and we rented Cabana #1. The beach is literally roped off and has an attendant there - and it was a good thing because she turned away a TON of people. The cabanas are $499 for up to 6 and then an additional $50 per person (max 10).

$499 family beach 6 people up to 4 more for $50 each

$399 adult beach 4 people up to 6 more for $50 each

They are booked like any other port adventure so they open for booking at the 120 day pre-sail window for PIF concierge and platinum; 105 days for gold; 90 days for silver; and 75 days for first time cruisers. Depending on your particular ship and itinerary, they are almost always gone within the first hour of 120-day bookings opening. As a first-time non-concierge cruiser, you will have to login and check every day, possibly multiple times a day, to maximize your chances of grabbing a cancellation... if there is one.

Thank you so much. I can imagine they're very popular. Since our chances are slim to none, does the rest of Castaway Cay have chairs on the beach we can use? Servers? I know I have a ton of research to do.

They were an addition to Castaway Cay in the last couple of years, so the whole island was quite acceptable without them. Yes, there are chairs and umbrellas from pictures I've seen, plus all the other stuff (Pelican Plunge, Scuttle's Cove, etc.) I'm going for the first time in May and actually don't want a cabana (not that I could get one) because I don't want to feel tied to one building I paid so much money for when I only have one day to experience Disney's private island. We live on the West Coast, so flights alone to get on a cruise that goes to CC is equal half the cruise fare or more. The only reason I get to do it now is the *GT rates on the WBPC which means we only have to pay for one-way flights. :D

You will have an awesome time with or without a cabana. :D

Do you think the month of your cruise might help you get a cabana ressie? We're 2nd time cruisers, and would love to get one for our 10yr anniversary, but I'm starting to lose hope We're looking at October, what do you think our odds are?

They are usually gone within minutes, after the 120 booking window opens. Although, some have had luck grabbing a cancellation.

Yes, there are chairs on the beach...and servers. There are also plenty of activities available. BTW, Castaway Cay IS amazing!!

Have fun!

I have only ever heard of Gold level getting an open cabana on their booking window below 120 days, even during the off season. As silver, you will most likely have to keep checking for a cancellation and possibly wait list when you board the ship. Unless, of course, you are willing to splurge on concierge for that 10th anniversary.

We are taking the cruise itself for our anniversary, so we are excited just to be able to go to CC. This will be our fourth cruise and the first to have it on the itinerary.
