Magic/Wonder 1 bed suites... need options.

What is the main differences between the 1 bed suites in the back of the ship (only ones we've stayed in) vs mid ship on either Magic or Wonder? Our last cruise we were in 8102 the deck was huge but didn't really spend a lot of time on it (we have a 4 year old). I think the lay outs are very different depending on where the 1 bedroom is on the ship. Anyone know? Anyone stayed in both or have info on comparing them? I might try for mid ship this time...

The 4 mid ship Cat. Ts- 8032, 8034, 8532 and 8534 have a triple length balcony and the murphy bed is in the living room instead of the bedroom. The layout seems more spacious than the regular Cat. T. We love the Mid ship T's, have sailed in 8532 a number of times and will be back in it for our 14 night EBTA cruise in May.

Thank you so much for the reply. It sounds like the verandah is smaller mid ship, but the interior might be larger? Since we are a family of 3 the murphy bed doesn't get used. Our 4 year old DS has slept on the pull out sofa in the living room.

Is it only those 4 1BRs that have the murphy in the LR?

Here's the link to the Virtual Stateroom tour that is found in the FAQ sticky: http://www.disboards.com/showthread....2&page=1&pp=15

You will find pics of the various Cat. T, used to be Cat. 3, cabins.

The four Cat T in the back of the ship are sized differently due to the shape of the ship. Large decks, but Topsiders/Beach Blanket can look over on to your deck.

The four Cat T midship are the largest one bedroom suites. Deck is long since these rooms are longer but not as wide. Murphy bed and sleeper sofa are in the living area. These rooms get booked very quickly.

The remaining Cat T have the Murphy bed in the master bedroom (nice for younger kids, not so nice for older kids).

We are staying in 8546 on the magic this April. I was under the impression the Murphy bed was in the living room (which is why I selected this one). Can anyone confirm or deny this?

Thanks Julie

8546 does not have the Murphy bed in the living room. It's in the master bedroom. Only the 4 midship Ts have the Murphy in the living room, those are 8032, 8034, 8532 and 8534.

One more thing I forgot to add... The four Cat T at the rear of the ship do not have a Murphy bed, just the pull out sofa. They can bring in a rollaway bed, but that takes a lot of space in the cabin since it can't be put away during the day.

A little late in seeing this, but I wanted to add that the one bedroom suites in the far aft of the ship are HANDICAP rooms, and should only be booked if you have needs.

It makes me crazy that DCL changed their policy for booking these rooms. In the past, you couldn't book them online, you had to call DCL and you had to turn in a signed form from your doctor, stating your needs for these rooms. Now, anyone can book them, and it takes rooms away from people who really need them.

We found that the four midships that have the murphy bed in the living room were actually more of a problem with the bed out, as we had to move the table and a potted plant to put the bed out, and then walk around the end of it to get from the master into the living room. And you'll lose a lot of floor space when the sofa sleeper is open, also.

The murphy bed that's in the master is actually more convenient, as far as not being in the way. It's tucked against the balcony door in the master, so you aren't moving furniture or tripping over the end of it when it's pulled out.

We've also found that it almost works better, and ends up the same cost, if not less expensive, to just get two lower category connecting rooms.
