Just a thought for those looking for a WBTA. If they are not doing it this year due to a extended Drydock I think it's fair to say it may not happen for the same reason. It might happen but don't be surprised if it doesn't.

That's if the Wonder goes to Europe. If the Wonder goes to Alaska, it can have an extensive dry dock in Victoria.

I don't see the Wonder going to Alaska in 2014. The kind of work that needs to be done to the ship is best handled by the manufacturer. For example, I work in the airline industry. Every x amount of time our planes need to be taken apart to be inspected. We send ours to Boeing to get that done. We could do it, but it's best left to the manufacturer. That's why the magic is going back to her manufacturer. That's just my theory. We will see. I might be wrong.

Do you drive from other ports (Galveston/Miami) to WDW? I wouldn't mind if it was out of PC because a short cruise can be combined with a WDW trip. But I wouldn't want to fly in to one place, rent a car and drive from TX or Miami to WDW and then fly back to CA from there. Seems like a hassle. The trip I looked at was a 4 night over the holiday out of Galveston. It was a little cheaper than the Dream.

I don't see the Magic going to Alaska, based on its current schedule that ends in Port Canaveral on May 19. That means the first Alaska cruise wouldn't begin until ~ 3 weeks later, and that cuts into DCL's lucrative Alaska season too much. Besides - other cruise lines have recently had MAJOR dry docks on the west coast.

The Magic's last Bahamas cruise ending on May 19 in Port Canaveral fits its Transatlantic cruise schedule. It is supposed to arrive in Madeira on May 27, 2014, according to a tour provider I contacted about a 2013 tour. It would probably do this:

May 19 - depart from Port Canaveral
May 20 - Castaway Cay
May 21-26 - 6 sea days
May 27 - Funchal, Madeira

If I were a betting woman, I'd bet the Magic will go to Europe and the Wonder will go to Alaska - just as they will do in 2013.

I'm with you ... think the Magic is coming back to Europe for another year, then a WBTA (which I may have to book!)

Unless, they send the Wonder over to Europe (easily changeable on port schedules as same weight/size etc) and put her into dry dock, same as the Magic this year.

Only a week to find out, then manic hours of figuring out what we'd like to do and, mor eimportantly, what we can afford!!

Yes, it was filmed in Rockport and Gloucester, MA....spent all my summers there (mom grew up in Gloucester). All the mountain scenes in the background were "photoshopped" in.

We loved our DCL Alaska cruise in 2011 and would love a 9 night but we had wanted to add a land portion to our next Alaskan cruise and don't think that can be done with the DCL intinerary since it is a round trip...at least that is my understanding.

DCL could swap one ship for another on port schedules. However, we know that the Magic and Wonder are going to Europe and Alaska in summer 2014. Based on their last known cruises for the Wonder (ending in Miami on May 2) and the Magic (ending in Port Canaveral on May 19) - I think it's most likely that that Magic will go to Europe and the Wonder will go to Alaska. The Wonder will have a 2-week Panama Canal cruise and a 6 or 7-night LA to Vancouver repo cruise before the (rumored) 9-night Alaska cruise.
