Question Booking discount for your next cruise questions...

While on the Dream last August, we took the offer Disney made us and put a deposit on a future cruise. An arbitrary cruise was picked and we paid our $100 per room (we had two this trip). They picked a cruise for the holidays 2013. They then informed our travel agent that we had booked a cruise.

We recently talked to our travel agent and said we weren't going to cruise this year, push it off to a 2014 cruise.

Now we are having second thoughts and considering an August cruise on the Magic. We would the apply our discount.

Has anyone used their discount for a future cruise? How does it work? Is the discount strictly on the base price of the cruise, or does it include the excursions, air, and other stuff?

Did you ever get proof when you booked the "discount"? We did it on the last night and everything was rushed so we never got any paperwork associated with it except for a bill for the $200. Can I assume that DCL keeps track of that stuff so there won't be an issue?

Do you still get the 6 months to pay on the Disney Visa even with the discount?

Any and all thoughts regarding this would be greatly appreciated!

The discount is on the cruise price only, before taxes and fees. You can move it to whenever you decide to cruise, and the discount would apply to the current price of that cruise. You may need to put down more of a deposit depending on the price. I am not sure if there is any paperwork they may give, but you will keep the same reservation number. If you pay off your cruise with a Disney Visa, the 6 months still applies.

The discount, as above, is on the "cruise fare" portion of the ticket only, and not on anything else (air, transfers, taxes, etc--no). You should get a copy of your invoice as your proof of booking...but your TA should also supply this to you.

You can change your date any time you wish as long as you are not in the penalty period--just call your TA. You will get the 10% off the cruise fare portion of the current price of the new cruise, which could cost more or less than the old cruise. If more, you will owe additional deposit at that time. You can move a cruise reservation as many times as you need. It never dies. The benefits are those of the cruise you actually sail. For instance, if you booked a 3 night cruise for low deposit ($100 OBC), and move to a 7 night cruise, you'll get the $200 OBC.
