Pros & Cons: Abby's Anaheimer or Little Boy Blue??

Yes, we are looking for a budget property (aka... CHEAP!- $60/nt) I have looked at Tripadvisor reviews on Abby's Anaheimer & Little Boy Blue, but there are about 30 reviews for each & some of them are pretty old.

Please share your experience if you've stayed at either property.

What we're looking for:
* Cheap ($60- $65/nt) in late April (not during Spring Break high season)
* Walking distance - 10-15 minutes to the gate... shuttle doesn't work for us since we have a double stroller we don't want to lug on & off.
* Clean (I know most of the properties are old, so not expecting modern, high tech or fancy, but just clean)
* Safe neighborhood
* Fridge/microwave in the room
* Free or low cost parking/ free or low cost resort fees
* Inexpensive, fast places to eat near by is a plus

Little Boy Blue:

Little Boy Blue does not have recent photos, but reviewers said they have remodeled since October & the reviews are really positive after the owners have changed... clean, new carpets, etc.

Anyone stayed there within the last few months??

Abby's Anaheimer:

The reviews seem positive, but there aren't that many...

How long is the walk to get to the park? Can you really cut across the Disney parking lot? Did you use the Grand California entrance or did you have to go through the Downtown Disney entrance?

Heard the parking is tight... where did you end up parking?
Was it clean?

I haven't stayed at either of those two, but just from the pics on Trip Advisor, no way could you get me to stay at Little Boy Blue. Yuk! Abby's Anaheimer seems like a better bet to me.

Is there a reason that you don't want to stay at the Motel 6 Maingate? It's a little closer, the reviews are a LOT better, and the pictures look way better. I plugged in the end of April and got $55.99/night.

Its 1.2 miles from Abby's toDisneyland entrance. It's in the backside of the PPH from the looks of it, on corner of Walnut and Katella.

You should be able to walk right thru GCH to get to DTD, and the CM's at the GCH entrance to CA are always nice about people using that entrance as long as its not packed. They don't usually ask for proof you at staying there. Once you exit to DTD from GCH, you'll walk a little ways to Security them on to the Disneyland entrance.

Have you tried using Priceline, LMT, or any of the other budget travel sites to see if you could get a nicer or closer hotel within your price range? People have reported getting the Hilton, Red Lion, etc. for $65/night or less. Someone reported getting the Anaheim Plaza for under $60/night. Do a check for your dates just to see if you have more options than you think.

I'm not familiar with Abby's but do NOT stay at Little Boy Blue!! Just look at TripAdvisor! It also has a reputation for housing druggies and prostitutes.

Last Minute Travel Club has been showing the Castle Inn for $55 a night. (the price bounces a bit, so you just have to watch) Someone on the boards posted the code PREBLACKFRIDAY to get a free membership- I used it the other day and it worked, so you could give it a try.

You could also look at the Quality. If you can find a code, you may be able to get it that low. It's about a ten minute walk, includes continental breakfast.

Eta: the one on Manchester. We stayed there 3 years ago and it was fine.
Trips as a kid at ages 7, 12 and 16. As an adult, single days in 2006 & 2009, Christmas week 2008, and seven trips as a 2011-2012 AP holder.
2013: WDW Half in January (I DID IT!!), February Conference weekend at YC(?!) and Girls' Spring Break in April...
Next trip: August 2013, unless I sneak one in sooner...
