Cabin question

We are booked for the April 22 sailing out of Miami. We booked a room in category 9C, 2nd deck with a GTY status on the Wonder. Is this a good place, bad place, or doesn't matter. We are new to cruising, so have no idea about rooms, ships etc.

We were on deck 2 on the Wonder in Dec. and loved it. We were just aft of midship. We found it very convenient and comfortable. Have fun!

All of our rooms on the Magic & Wonder (sister ships) have been on deck 2. It's so convienient, 1 deck down to the tender lobby (don't have to wait for elevator); 1 or 2 decks up to the MDRs/lounges/guest services/port excursion desk.

We will be booking deck 2 rooms in the future.

I'm booked on a category 9 for the Wonder leaving on Saturday. I was under a guarantee and got assigned cabin 2028. From deck plans, the room looks to be right near forward elevators and stairs, which is quite convenient. I don't think noise should be a problem as it is not near the main elevators. I can give you an update on the room when I get back if you would like.

We were in a 9C on starboard side deck 2 (can't remember the cabin number) on the Wonder right under Rock'n Bar D. We occassionally her the thump of the bass late at night but only a few nights. It wasn't too bad. We were on port side 9C on the Magic near forward elevators. We heard terrible banging a few nights. Someone said it was waves hitting the hull. We never did find out what it was. Overall, we loved deck 2, so convenient to everything. Forward elevators were great, not crowded at all. If we were to stay in an oceanview again, I'd do deck 2 again.

A GTY status means a room will be assigned later. You should look to see if there are any available now and try to secure a location you might like.

If you request a specific room you will lose your GTY discount. We just returned from a Fantasy cruise where we booked a GTY reservation and we were more than happy with our stateroom assignment. We were guaranteed a category 6 and received a category 4e. We were on deck 5 forward and our location was very quiet and convenient. Would love to have it again. We will also look to get another GTY reservation in the future.

There's no such thing as a GTY discount.....

When a certain percentage in a category is sold, the cat goes into GTY status. You are guaranteed a room in that category or better. There is nothing discounted at all about these rooms. Lets say you choose a cat 5E GTY. DCL could assign you a cat 5E room or something higher, such as a cat 5A. It is true that u can use your 10% rebooking on it because its not anything special.

There is no GTY discount. When a certain percentage of rooms within a category are booked on a cruise, the category goes GTY. You still pay the same price for a, for example, 9C GTY as you would for a specific 9C room.
