Pirate night question

What is this all about? Do I dress up my 4 yo? Does it happen on the 3 night cruises?

Pirate Night is on all DCL cruises. There will be pirate themed activities, a pirate show with fireworks at night, and a late night buffet.

Yes, people do dress up, adults as well as kids. On the shorter cruises fewer people dress, maybe because they don't know they can, as they seem to be the newer cruisers.

It's a deck party with a pirate theme( regardless f where they are, they had the party in Alaska). There is a show on the pool deck, fireworks and buffets. It's a good time, and there are 40 year olds who dress up, it surely optional though. Keep in mind where you are for the cruise, the entire ship comes out and it gets hot real fast. If I were you id go with a t-shirt, face paint and a $2 eye patch and $4 sword. But it's up to you.

Talking Pirate Night

I'm not expert as i've only sailed once so far on a Disney Cruise. It's my understanding that Pirate Night doesn't happen on all cruises. I was curious if we'd get one on ours in Sept as it's a 5 nighter. I emailed Disney (from the link offered on the Disney Cruise line site) and they responded a day later with our dinning schedule including exactly which nights are formal night and pirate night. It's so nice knowing in advance so you don't book anything like Palo on a night you don't want to me.

Have Fun!

Again, Pirate Night is on every DCL cruise. There are some variations in it, in Alaska they tend to be indoors and no fireworks. On the classic ships the Pirate show is after late seating, Mickey flies in to save the day and start the fireworks. On the Dream class ships, there is a pirate party between the dinner seatings (more family friendly, from what I understand) and a different pirate show after the late seating with the fireworks.

Yeah the Alaskan Pirate show needs to be indoors because there is a sound restriction for the inside passage. Didn't stop anyone from becoming scurvy scoundrels! Arrrrr

I was freezing cold on all three of my cruises where i would have preferred to wear my ski outfit instead of the pirate dress. And one was in the bahama's and not even during winter

I have a picture of us on Pirate Night from a few years ago and we are all wearing matching bandanas on our heads. But for the life of me I can't remember if I bought them and brought them along or if they were at our place at dinner and we put them on then. So, are they supplied or do I need to go hunt them down?

It's amazing how these things you think you will remember for ever blur into each other over time...

They are supplied. On the classic ships they will be at your table for dinner. On the Dream class, I believe they leave them in your room.

thanks so much everyone! My son has done Pirate League a few times and was a pirate for halloween soooo we have a couple of things to bring along

So as it gets closer they will inform us more about what night is pirate night then? We won't go beyond our set dining plans (no Palo type dinner) as it is our first DCL and we will see what there is in the regular fare. Will we have a formal night, too on the 3 nighter? I would assume they tell us what day that is as well.

thanks again!

When you login to your reservation on the DCL site you can see which night is pirate night, as it is listed as "ship activities". When you click on that day is should say "Pirate Deck Party".

The URL should look like this https://disneycruise.disney.go.com/p...ans/calendar/#

For example on our upcoming Panama Canal cruise it is listed on night #9.

Can you see that schedule before your check in date? I emailed dcl and got the auto reply about dress code and even emailed back and still got no answer.

i'm interested to hear if that is the case (the between seating show) on the 3 night cruises. I'm not sure we could make it to the later show as we're early birds.

Well, I got this from one of the Navigators posted in the link above:

MICKEY'S PIRATES IN THE CARIBBEAN
7:45-8:05 pm
Decks 11 & 12 marks the spot
It's a Family Pirate celebration, me hearties! Come and experience all the pirate fun alongside Captain Mickey Mouse and his famous Pirate Crew. (Weather permitting)

BUCCANEER BLAST FIREWORKS
10:30 pm
Deck 11 and 12 marks the spot
What's a Pirate Party without some fireworks to remind the other ships who be ruling the oceans blue? Fireworks will be on display Starboard side -seen best from deck 11, center pool area, and on deck 12.
