Just off the Wonder today...probably not doing concierge again :(

We were on the 4 night out of Miami on the Wonder that just returned today. We stayed in the 2 BR Concierge Suite #8516 and man, was it noisy! Our sweet concierge, Jennifer, kept apologizing but I really don't think there was much she could do. This room is under a storage area up past the adult pool and outside the spa. We constantly were hearing people and things directly above us starting around 6am and well after 11 pm. I had a white noise app on my phone but couldn't drown out the sudden booms (things falling and/or being dropped?), rolling carts and clicking heels from people and things. Needless to say, my DH is not ready to shell out that kind of money for us and our 5 kids to stay in that room again. If noise doesn't bother you then it's a lovely room and great space. I wish Dream and Fantasy allowed 7 in a 2 BR...our concierge said they have a different design (maybe they wised up after complaints on the Wonder and Magic) and they're not under the pool deck/storage areas. Oh well, we did rebook so still happy, just 2 regular connecting rooms.

You want to stay off deck 8 entirely then. We experienced noise in our cat 4 forward on deck 8 also.

Anyone know what is above the Walt Disney Suite on the old ships?

The problem there, from what I've noticed, is that there are NO 2 bedroom suites, not even the biggest cabins, on the new ships. In category R there's one bedroom, then other areas in the space with beds. From the catalog pull out maps and room descriptions, it's one master with queen bed, one wall pull down double, and one wall pull down single. Category T is one bedroom with a queen, a double convertible sofa, and one wall single pull down.

From that same map it seems like you were also somewhat under the arcade?

Could be wrong, but the deck plan in my catalog (for want of a better word to describe it) shows Cove Cafe under part of it, and the *other* side of what the OP is describing.

There is no such thing as 2-bedroom on the Dream and the Fantasy. The Royals on those ships are nothing more than larger, fancier 1-bedroom suites. In order to achieve what you would get in the 2-bedroom suites on the newer ships, you need to book two connecting concierge suites. Which, frankly, is ridiculous at the current prices.

I have to admit that while trying to sleep in suites on the classic ships, there were times we mused about putting land mines in our ceiling because of the noise above ....

I jest, of course. However, I do think Disney learned about the placement of suites on the Dream class. Never been bothered by noise from above on the newer ships (yet anyway).

I am sorry to hear this. My brother-in-law and his family have that suite for our upcoming cruise in March. I am not going to tell them what I have learned about this suite, because it serves no purpose. My niece is five -- I hope she will be able to sleep!

I have a Verandah Cabin on Deck 6. My biggest concern has been how awkward it is going to be for me to be the only one in our party who is not a Concierge passenger.

It will be far less awkward on the Wonder or Magic, where concierge is just a room, vs. on the Dream or Fantasy where there is a concierge lounge, sun deck, etc. and the rooms are behind locked gates.

Yes, my sister-in-law has been assured that I will be able to come and go to their cabin. I agree - if the Wonder had a Concierge Lounge, it would be more of a problem.

It is completely a "non-issue" as you are welcome in the space booked by your family at any time. If they choose to order meals from the MDRs or whatever, there is no restriction on who may consume those meals.

On the new ships, you would not have access to the "public" concierge areas' the lounge and sun deck. SInce these spaces don't exist on the classic ships, there is no problem.

If cruising out of Port Canaveral, you will not be allowed to wait in the concierge waiting area, and you will have a boarding number appropriate to your PAT/CC status (not to concierge booking). If the whole gang wants to board together, the others will need to wait till your number is called.

The only thing you won't be able to do is board with them with their #1 boarding card or wait in the concierge lounge at the port. They can wait to board with you and whatever boarding number you are assigned with your PAT.

When you flew to Miami, was there still the Disney buses that took you to port? My DH and I were thinking about doing a getaway in May on the 4 night Wonder as well, and we have only ever went through Port Canaveral and it was a cinch from the airport, and was just wondering if it's that easy there too?

Thanks for the heads up. We are in that same room on our next sailing. (Which is also our first). Maybe I should bring ear plugs!

Could you tell me...was the noise at all hours? Even in the middle of the night? Or was it mostly in the early morning? Or evening? Just curious. Thank you!
