I just saw rate drops this week for my end of August trip. We are about 7 weeks out. So I won't be holding my breath for anything decent for December until mid October.

Thanks. I did have a great booking through holidayautos.com for around $300 and no one way fee from Seattle to Anaheim. Then they got bought out and cancelled all bookings after July 31st which left me back at square one. I've now got a $600+ rental with Alamo through vroomvroomvroom.com

So this is the first year we are traveling during the holidays (Sat after Christmas).

Your response made me nervous. Is it difficult to get a car over the holidays, expensive, etc???

Thanks!

It is not difficult but it can be very expensive. Right now an intermediate car is running about $300-$400 for a week (including taxes) starting on your date. The problem is that (A) rates go through the roof and (B) discounts are often "blacked out" over the holidays. You could probably poke around and save a bit more off that rate and you *might* find a coupon that is valid that week.

I have been going to Disney just after Christmas for years and you do not want to wait for October. I usually am booked by now but fares are very high so far

There is a code here: http://www.disboards.com/showthread....8#post48639568 that gives an okay rate of about $180 before taxes.

I just booked a compact car from Dollar from Dec. 25 at 8:00am until Dec. 31 at 3:00pm for $220.86. Pick up and drop off at the Wydham DTD. It is convenient for us since we are arrived at SSR on Dec. 24. DH doesn't want to rent a car but rather depend on Disney transportation and/or cabs. I booked the car for just in case he changes his mind

I booked with Alamo in a mid size for 9 days for $270. I am hoping to do much better than that, but decided to lock in something I could l could live with. I have never gone the week before Christmas before so I have no idea if the rates get as low as I can get them in August.
I used my Insiders and a United Mileage Plus coupon for $30 off (AD2492ACX) that is good until the end of the year.
