ID requirements for kids returning to ship on Western....
What ID requirements are there for kids who disembark/embark at Western Ports - ie....Grand Cayman, Costa Maya, Cozumel? The child is 5yo and is traveling with mom and Grandparents. Will he need anything else in port besides his KTTW card to get back onto the ship? His mom will be using his Birth Certificate, and most likely a signed acknowledgement from his father that he is traveling, for initial embarkation. He does not have a passport, and I don't want to start a "passport/no passport" discussion.

Only the KTTW card is required for children. When the CM's scan your card, your photo comes up on their screen, so they know the right person is boarding.

Minors need a KTTW card. Adults need a KTTW card + an additional government issued photo ID.

I should have clarified this a bit more.
Do the Grand Caymen or Mexican border control/officials require anything more than the KTTW for kids entering their ports or returning from their port back to the ship? I know at Nassau, whenever we returned from visiting their city, before we entered the pier area to go back to the ship, we needed to show our KTTW card as well as either a Drivers License or Passport. Didn't know if this was different specifically for Mexican Ports. Thanks for your help. |

No difference - adults need KTTW card plus ID, children require their KTTW only.
If there are officials at the port area checking ID's, that's all they'll need too. |

The answers given above are correct. The only thing a child needs to get back into the port area and onto the ship is the KTTW card. FWIW, this was even the case in Cartegenia where you need to have a passport to enter the country [unlike in any of the current ports on the eastern or western DCL cruises]. We did not need to show our passports when we got off the ship. The information was cleared from the checkin that we did online and again at the port prior to boarding initially.

Though we were told that we needed ids on our magic cruise a few weeks ago, the only port where we were asked for them was Key West. And it was just for adults, we didn't take the kid's passports on shore with us, and were not asked about ids for them.

There is a form you have to sign if your child is leaving the ship without 'you' and I'd imagine the 'you' wouldn't include a grandparent in another stateroom. I walked off and my two kids were behind me and one was stopped when she tried to get off, yelling "Mom! MOM stop!" She doesn't look like me (she's Chinese) and the crew member just didn't catch that our names were the same.

So, we adults need ID with our KTTW card? Do most people carry their passports when they enter a port? We were hoping to leave our passports at Guest Services to get stamped...how do we carry them with us if we leave them there???

You can use your drivers license as ID to get back on the ship if you want to leave the PassPort onboard.

A DL is sufficient ID to get back on the ship with your KTTW card. Don't count on GS to get your PPs stamped. The official wouldn't stamp them on the EBPC in 2008 when they were onboard. You will need to take them to the office in port yourself to receive a stamp.
