How many frequent travelers book air on weekends?

I know "they say" the best time to book airfare is usually on Tues and / or Wed and I have been watching airfare for our summer vaca several times a day for WEEKS and I have not noticed a drop AT ALL on either of those days for what we're looking for. In fact, over the last 2-3 weeks it's done nothing but GO UP a little bit almost every day. I have stumbled onto an itinerary that may not necessarily be my first choice (either on airlines OR airports) BUT in round numbers it is approx. $200 cheaper per person than our preferred airports / airlines. I don't know if I should gamble on the prices fluctuating downward at all after the weekend because that has NOT been the trend on this itinerary at all. If I feel like I am seeing one of the best prices I've seen in 3 weeks (even tho it's a diff. airport & diff. airlines) should I pull the trigger?

Who says go for it & who says wait out the weekend?? Or would you book a portion of it & wait on some?! (There are 4 legs to this trip: DC to LA (DL) then LA to Oahu. Then Oahu to Maui. And finally, Maui back to DC.) I feel like the LA-Hawaii portion is the one that is most volatile. Actually, I know it is because I've watched it go UP more almost every day.

I'm one who says "when I'm happy with the price, book it".

This is because, as I believe has already been posted in at least one of the several threads you already have started here regarding airfares, that the old rule about booking on certain days of the week usually doesn't hold true.

You really should just book ASAP at a price you can afford and stop obsessing so much about this. It's a waste of time.

But then I wouldn't be Anal Annie!! (I wouldn't have so many doubts if the deal I found was out of the airport I wanted on airlines that I knew.)

Question for you since you live in my area....what would you recommend for parking out of DCA? Would you park off-site at one of the Crystal City hotels?? What's easiest / cheapest for a 2 week trip?

No - we're going to LA (DL) for 4 nights first so I kind of want to go direct out of LAX. This "deal" that I've found is on Alaska Airlines...I've been hunting for valid codes all afternoon but none apply to our dates / flights. I am not much of a gambler so just don't know what to expect from prices going forward... A friend of mine who lives in CA and goes to HI every summer said not to piddle around on that leg for too long because they sell out and will go up bcuz so many in CA go to HI in the summer. The flights from the DC area to LA have also been going up. I had wanted to use Jet Blue on that first leg but can't if we go out of National Airport (I will want to fly in / out of the same airport). Decisions, decisions. I hate them!!
