Just got an iPad

It will be used by the whole family including my DD that is non-verbal. I think that we've decided on an app for communication.

I really know nothing about them.

What apps do we need?

What apps will be fun or interesting?

I recently got my first iPad as well. Enjoy it!

One free app I enthusiastically recommend is Disneyland Explorer. Tons of great stuff, including little games and short videos. Our boys love it. If you just click on attractions and characters that interest you, it will reveal some fun things to see and do.

Go to the app store & look up free apps.

I sometimes download quite a few & then delete them with in minutes because I decide I don't like them.

But we also have paid apps as well. My kids like mincraft (I just don't get it) & a few others they do play.

I would start with looking at all the free apps . Don't waste money on aps until you figure out what ones you will actual use. Lots of paid aps have lite versions that are free. I love the kindle ap, Netflix, and docs to go ( makes you able to create and work with word compatable documents)

Just curious...but what made you buy one, if you knew nothing about them?

Mostly for a communication device for my DD that is non-verbal. We've been waiting for years for the school district to find an assistive tech device for her.
But she will not be using it during the day while she's at school, so I've been playing around with it today.

I've already put the Disboard app on.

Someone one the DIS mentioned, App price drop, great app! There are many apps that are temporarily free listed. Changes daily.

Thanks again to the person that mentioned it!

I mainly use my iPad for surfing the internet. I got the DIS app, but I prefer to use the safari browser...I am just used to the way it looks.

My favorite game apps are FLOW and Unblock Me - these are puzzle type games and both are the free version. I also enjoy Scrabble - pretty sure that was free too.

DS's iPad is full of apps...literally full. Minecraft and Temple Run are a couple of his favorites.

Not sure of why your daughter is non verbal, but some very smart people pulled together a ton of apps that may interest you, it is called Autism Apps and has quite a few apps for non- verbal in many categories

I don't like the DIS App either. I go thru Safari.

I like the game App Family Fued.

The keyboard isn't the greatest. I am back to typing with one finger.
