Going to see Wicked in NYC!

Where is the best (cheapest) way to get tickets? I checked Ticketmaster, the cheapest they have is $115 a piece, for the rear mezzanine. My DH is afraid we won't see anything in those seats.

Yep, the ticket prices for this are incredible... and there seem to be no discounts anywhere. It is like these aren't really discounted.

Do you have hotel reservations?
Do you have plans on where to eat?

Man, I am so jealous!

Right?! No advice on tickets, but I'm jealous! I've heard the show is fantastic and to see it in NY would make it 10x better! Enjoy

I have no advise for you about the tickets either, but I had to say that it's a wonderful show! We LOVED it!!! It's worth every penny!

Wow, you people are just no help at all!LOL

We are working on the hotel, we have ressies for the Marriott Marquis Broadway right now, but hoping to find something less pricey. No ideas on where to eat. Our plans are to see the Statue of Liberty, Sept 11 memorial, and a Broadway show. This is a surprise for our DD14 for her birthday. She is gonna flip when she finds out!

I'm no help either but I did want to encourage you to see it if at all possible! We saw it in London last summer and it was PHENOMENAL!

Also, I have stayed at the Marriott East Side. Not sure how it compares cost-wise to where you are staying now but it might be worth looking into. It was fairly close to 2 subway stops and we even walked home after seeing a show one night.

Hope this helps! Enjoy!

You could chance trying the TKTS line but I don't think Wicked is discounted much, if ever. You may just have to pony up. Usually broadway theaters are pretty small and there are no really bad seats. You will love the show, we have seen it once in New York and once in our hometown and loved it both times.

There are not discounted tickets to see Wicked, but it's a great show - your dd will LOVE it! You need to get tickets ahead of time for the WTC memorial, and I don't know when you are going, but the SOL is closed do to Sandy damage (although I never thought it was a huge thrill to get off on the island anyway - we usually stayed on the ferry and got off at Ellis Island, although that might be closed, as well).

My best friend and I took our DDs in the Spring. We searched, but didn't find any discounts. We splurged and bought 3rd row mezzanine. I can't even describe to you how AMAZING this show was. Worth every single penny!!

As for the hotel, look into the Warwick. I think it's on 56th. It's right near the MOMA. Very nice hotel. Decent price. Good location.

Have an amazing time!

Wicked, Lion King, and Book of Morman are never discounted. They are never sold at the TKTS window. I've seen the show twice. It's wonderful.

We were just in NYC in December - and stayed at the Roosevelt - loved it. It was about 3/4 of a mile from the theater area. We found this hotel to be lovely, centrally located, and reasonably priced. It is on east 45th street - about 2 blocks from 5th avenue.

We found it easy to get anywhere (that we were going). Check out HOP STOP. We actually loaded the app onto our phones. It will give you a blow-by blow description on how to get places - by walking, by taxi or by subway. (Subway directions also came with the walking directions before and after the subway too!)

No advice on how to get cheap tickets...we paid 2 arms and 3 legs for tickets to Newsies, and worth every penny. Absolutely every penny. My advice - just get the tickets! I wouldn't risk not having tickets in hand when I went to NYC - especially since that is what you are doing.

Have fun!!!

Wicked is never discounted but they used to do a daily lottery for good seats for about $20-$25. We have seen it a few times and tried the lottery (but didn't win). I like the center mezzanine seats down front for a good view of everything.

Check their website to see if they still offer the lottery.
